Too steep for a head coach new to the NFL, not just too steep in general.

but in a way he's admitting rhule was their first choice but they didn't want to spend that much, so they settled for second best.

great way to start a relationship with their new coach :shades:

We should feel even better about having Tepper own the franchise.

He found his number one choice to be the leader of this team and made him an offer he couldn't refuse. Who gives a flying F what any other owner thinks. Tepper is the captain now. Those other cheap skate billionaires will learn.

Would skeptical Panthers fans have preferred Tepper to offer him $5 mill per year, and then he goes and gets scooped up by the Giants?

I'll feel better if it turns out to be the right choice, i.e. we turn into winners.

Otherwise, we look like morons.

John Mara has $500 million. Sound like a lot of money? Yeah, it's a lot of money.

David Tepper has $12 billion. That's 24 times as much as John Mara. To put it another way: $60,000 a year is a common salary in Charlotte right? 24 x 60,000 is $1,440,000. Tepper has so much money he even makes other NFL owners look like peasants.

One thing that isn’t mentioned is the player’s impression of this. You have an owner who’s willing drop stupid money on the team? Tepper agreed to a $70mm contract/$6mm buyout/and a multimillion Sports Science department within a few hours and then proceeded to giggle about it in a press conference a few days later.  Not to mention the leagues biggest training facility? Players love that poo. The next 5 years are going to be fun.

Now if we keep Cam........:Eyes_Emoji_42x42:

I think it's smart for coach's power to also be backed up by salary.  They still don't get paid enough for the job they do.  And one of the problems they have is trying to coach players who get paid a lot more than they do.

Tepper has made it clear - not that he'll overpay the players due to salary cap - but that he's committed to give those players that come to Carolina the best coaching staff, training facilities, medical staff, resources, and latest technology and science they need to be great.

WE don't look like anything. It's Tepper's money. He believes Rhule is worth a 60MM gamble. That's a rounding error to him. It's all relative. Relative to Tepper, most of these owners are broke as a joke.

    • Two things: 1. Dr. Eric Eager is central to the draft process 2. I know that it was edited, but we didn't hear "Thieneman" one time, not even before the Vikings pick.
    • Why would he sign here as a guard when surely someone would sign him as a tackle?  Assuming he is healthy
    • Went back to watching the highlights. With a sober mind haha. Here is what I saw.    freddie needs to make 1 of those but the rest aren’t on him.    Slavin was BBBBAAAD again last night. Not sure what is going on with these game one Slavin gafs.    miller was ok but had his worst game in the playoffs so far.    nikishin was no good. His his awful turnover led to the first goal at the end of the first period that just can’t happen. ghost was beat like a drum multiple times last night, including the go-ahead goal at the end jarivs wont shoot. He is either hurt or he is struggling mentally and I think it could be a combination of both. He passed up a wide open net on the power-play only to pass it to no one and cleared it himself.     Svech played well. He is getting zero help on that line.    aho. Worst game as a pro. I mean that. He won’t shoot it, passes go to no one and turns it over repeatedly.  He did exactly what they did against Montreal game one when Miller had a turnover. Aho left his man to go help and left the golden Knight player wide open in front of Freddie.  If I was Rod, you Tell Aho when that thing hits your stick you fire it  someone needs to sit him down just him in a room and ask what’s going on. He seems soft, timid and has zero fire.   canes could have won that game   There isn’t a gap between these two teams  they are dead even   Carter Hart’s gonna get lit up in this series. We can beat that guy. the consensus last night was our defense played horrible and our stars won’t score.  clean the defense up. Tell the top line to shoot it everything and we’ll win tomorrow night.   Possibly convincingly.
