Crazy...maybe McDaniels has stinky breath.

It's not so much about who it is for me as it is that's who Browns fans are expecting.

If they announce and it's not McDaniels, I expect a load of Cleveland fans to go absolutely nuts.

Reading some of their comments after the game that just ended, some are starting to accept Saleh if he is the hire. For the most part though, you're probably right. McDaniels is the bigger name hire.

Marty saw the right fit twice already, to pretty similar results.

You know the right fit when you see it if you know what you're doing.

Get the next GM right and we can talk about being optimistic, but if it's a Marty choice I'm not going to feel a whole lot better.

I find it a little suspicious that Marty just happened to find "the right fit" in the candidate who posed the least threat to his own job. Tepper said the head coach is going to a role in picking the GM. Rhule has almost no NFL contacts. There's nobody he would feel strongly about to get in the GM position. Rhule might even feel a sense of indebtedness to Marty for taking a chance on him. The other candidates, especially McDaniels, were all going to want guys they had worked with before.

Point taken, but he does have one. He's friends with Saints Assistant GM and Baylor alum Jeff Ireland (a choice I'd absolutely love).

Unfortunately, unless he got the GM job directly, it'd be a lateral move and the Saints could probably block it .

Wow, I didn't know that. If we got Ireland as part of the front office, I would feel better about the hire.

It's also possible he could reach back to his old Giants days and recommend Marc Ross or Jerry Reese. Both are available.

It's been reported that the NFL wants Jerry Reese back in the league.
