So, anyone have any idea what exactly this means?

Olsen was under contract for this coming year. To me, this sounds like verbiage that indicates we're going separate ways, but it isn't necessarily an outright cut at the moment. We are possibly not-so-publicly indicating that he is on the trade block. But, then again, one would assume that it is poor form/showing your hand if you're already letting other teams know he's on the market, unless you expect them to start "bidding" on him when they officially can, which could be genius.

Hurney told Greg that Cam isn't in the plans going forward and he said fug that I want no part of a rebuild for 5 years I either want to win now or go make millions of dollars sitting in an expensive chair talking about football

It means... Gregs cap hit was 11 mil, he wasnt going to take a paycut to play on a rebuilding roster and they can save 7-8 mil by cutting him. 

Both side respect each other and this is just a nice way of saying that they are cutting him and he understands why.

Greg wasn’t going to retire without making sure we wouldn’t come after any bonus money. This just puts in place that he can move on knowing we will release him first. With Marty in place, going after money wasn’t going to happen but Greg isn’t stupid and he knows Marty isn’t guaranteed to be around forever.

Mutual agreement to part ways.  Greg does not need to pay back sign in money and Panthers let him go.  Greg wins.

Correct.  He will be cut, and that was agreed upon.

Greg wasn't going to retire (at this point) to make sure they wouldn't come after any of his money, not that Hurney would have anyway.

I think it’s us releasing him but doing it in a nice way and honestly he’s probably happy to be released so because both agreed on what to do going forward they just made it nice and easy and said “mutual.”

 

I mean it’s clear as day this is the right move for both sides. Greg doesn’t want to be a part of a rebuild and may retire. And we have no business at all paying a declining older player that kind of money when we can save like $8M and give younger guys an opportunity. That’s all it means.

Unless he is called upon by a SB looking roster, I fully expect Greg to be in the booth on Sundays.

Not that you can carry success over year to year, and not that he would wait this long to sign a TV contract, but the only way I see him back is if Kelce went down in the offseason or in the SB or something like that.

Otherwise, expect to see his Thor looking ass staring back at your through your TV this fall.
