I want you to give this crew a good hard look:

Yes, they're kind of fishy.  But, ignoring the posturing and Cam exit, most of the angst I'm seeing is this idea that we're somehow going to be mediocre instead of awful therefore will not get Fields, Lawrence or Newman.

I implore you to consider something.  We've really just gone out and landed this guy...

The rest FA signings are middling younger guys with potential.  Maybe a few work out but holy hell, we have holes galore.

Now Teddy has managed games in his career, never had a bad season per se, is 22-12 as a starter...but fact is this team is completely stripped to the bare bones and we're still going to be really bad.

I understand the Tepper frustration, us wondering why Hurney is still f*cking here, and why we played the Cam situation out like we did, but folks, we're still going to suck.  This "Teddy signing means we'll be mediocre and it's a long-term failure" mindset is so silly.  We're paying him in the bottom third in salary for a starting QB and in his two full seasons starting couldn't throw for over 14 touchdowns.  We basically have CMC, Moore and Burns.  That's our best talent.

The plan is coming together...

But at least look at the promise in the following...

I have 2 wishes:

(1) Hurney is in fact demoted after the draft

(2) We do NOT draft Justin Herbert or Jake Fromm.

But jeez louise, get a grip.  Tepper is making things weird and we all wonder how Hurney can weasel around everything in this organization, but this team will still be crap and we'll have a good shot at a top-5 2021 pick.  If not, it clearly means we've got some promising young coaches.

I've explained this in other threads already...

Bridgewater either proves he is a QB you can build around or not...

The team still loses because we don't have a good roster right now.. And there is always a slow start when dealing with new coaching... So we will still have a top 5 pick...

Next 2 offseason our cap situation is amazing...

Our division has nothing but old QB'S now.. In 3 years we could be in the dominant position for years..

That's my optimistic view right now..

Yeah, creating a loser in the NFL is great. It's sooooo easy to come back from a cluster fug in the NBA....oops

We're screwd

So we are either pissed we’re going to be mediocre and miss out on the QBs or pissed that we’re going to suck.

We’re obviously not going to be good either way so I just want to understand why people think we’re set for failure beyond a rebuild. You guys can say how much other posters suck but never explain your actual outlook on the team.

i think we’re at the stage where everyone is just mad at everyone because the team has basically been blown up.

    • Reasonable. I mean I didn’t see a clear path to relief this season myself. As I have typed already, I think the QB FA class is more interesting next season and that draft is supposed to be stacked as well. There just weren’t many options this year.  When you have Tepper to contend with you have to tread lightly around this unless you are 100% certain and willIng to stake your job on it.   There were a couple of outings that helped Bryce a lot in terms of  thinking maybe he can do this, and if you are a supporter you are giving them a lot of weight. You are likely to think just get him some more help and he can do that every week. Which I think Tepper falls into that category.  And the playoffs, division champs, regardless of the way I see that, the supporters will also give that a lot of weight.    And the big one, the atmosphere In BOA for that WC game, Tepper had to be soiling himself over that. If you pulled Bryce out right now you had better be right and your new guy had better make the playoffs and look good doing it or you will be gone and your chance to build your old team back into respectability will be gone too.  So here we have Pickett on a one year deal, and Grier and King. I understand it.
    • Well, seeing as we play the Lions at home this year, pretty sure that rumor isn't true.
    • Totally possible imo, I also caught that snippet from Morgan where he said “If” we sign him. The lack of competition says otherwise tho 🤷‍♂️
