. . . how great this team used to be . . . they just put up Panthers / Patriots 2013 MNF in full on their website.

What’s sad is that this was pretty much our super bowl (other than the first Seahawks win...maybe) and just another prime time game for them. Every week some other team is playing in their super bowl. Until we’re at that level, I wouldn’t call that 2013 team great by any means.

Didn’t forget.  The Panthers had the best front 4 the league has seen since the 80’s Bears, lead by their (“good guy”, “guy you want on your football team”, per Charles Johnson and Thomas Davis) All-Pro, franchise DE.

See, I disagree.  It wasn't about beating the Pats.

That 2013 team played HARD.  They went out there and competed.  I had forgotten how hard this team played.  Even the guys who probably weren't that good did a job for us.  We had Nate Chandler at guard!  I watched that game and I could just FEEL the hunger those guys had to be good.

You can't expect a team to win all the time.  Sometimes things just don't go your way.  However, I do think it's incredibly important that your team go out there and play hard for 60 minutes, every week.  I think that's what we've lost.

    • When I tell people I was at that game, they usually say oh that’s so cool you had the experience. I call it soul crushing. Why? The weeks and months leading up to it were great, the team was fun to watch every week…some weeks the offense was unstoppable and carried the team (saints and giants road games), other times the defense carried the load (jaguars, tampa). Lots of back and forth games against good teams (Seattle and Indy). Good young players on the team, but the veteran leadership was incredible…from Cam, Olsen, Kalil and J Stew to Luke, TD, Norman, Tillman, Jared Allen, CJ. Role players like Fozzy Whitaker, Cotchery (he caught that MFer), Philly brown, Kyle love, AJ Klein, and so on.  The Friday before the nfc championship my wife and I after a few drinks said let’s see what prices look like for flights/accommodations and we got to talking about how much prices would increase if we waited until we found out if we would be in the big game. We said screw it, we are only out $200 if we have to cancel.  Of course we come out and just pulverized the cardinals in front of the most raucous crowd by far we’ve ever had. We had no idea what we would do for game tickets and then found out a neighbor who worked for the team could get us 2 for face value (each employee got two of their own for free, something cool that JR did).  But then the NFL mafia decided that the storyline of manning going out on top like Elway would give them more goodwill than a non traditional QB who didn’t connect with their target demo and the rest is history. I never have and never will watch that game again. I am just hoping I can see them win one in the 2nd half of my life.
    • Dude you are smart fan. 3 on 0 breakaways won’t matter who is in net. You gotta be better on this one.
    • Raiders are gonna get a good one. Rather have Mendoza fly out and play for the Panthers tomorrow than Bryce
