I trust you understand the difference in finalizing tb and the potential in finalizing an agreement to sign cam to your club, just for starters I’m sure a team wants to have there dr’s evaluate cam and not just go off the physical he took in atl

I was simply stating that he and his team could meet with any interested front office

You took that to breaking NFL rules

Now you want to make it about physicals

Cool

Here's a thread about a player our team had interest in and signed yesterday

The team owed Cam NOTHING. Read it again ... NOTHING.

This is a business. He took us to one SB and lost. Popularity means zilch win it comes to wins and profits. This team will win games again.

You all act like he was the only thing holding the team together.

What, you wanted a farewell parade? A statue? A street named after him?

crazy will ferrell GIF

Your point is going to become more and more rational to posters on here, as the number of Cam Newton fanboys finally leave the fanbase. We're going to return to pre-Cam Newton levels of Panthers fans which might be for the best in the long run.

None, and I mean none of this would be happening if Cam had gotten surgery as soon as possible.

He would have been healthy enough to trade, he would have been healthy enough to work out, he would have been able to show teams that both the foot and the shoulder are healthy.

Instead, he waited, he used what little leverage he had, and it bit him in the ass.

I hate the way this was handled, but the writing has been on the wall for over a year, and ALL parties are to blame.

The Athletic’s Jourdan Rodrigue says Panthers GM Marty Hurney informed QB Cam Newton‘s camp a few days before the legal tampering period that they would be exploring a trade.

After that, Newton’s camp requested more autonomy within the process to explore a trade, which the Panthers granted and which ultimately led to the wording and backlash of their announcement they had given Newton permission to seek a trade.

so cam was informed by the team in a timely manner  before anything could legally be done.   that's what i figured.   the rest is just people with hurt feelings

A couple of different sources have suggested that the team has been frustrated with how Newton handled a lot of his injury issues.

True? Don't know, but the questions of why he postponed surgery have been raised before.

Mentioned previously that what I found confusing was how his visit with the foot specialist resulted in a recommendation that he not have surgery. Then a little while later, he's having surgery.

Still don't really know what to make of that.

We don't know that, but that is what's being reported, and I do believe this is what happened.

i don't think the org did anything wrong at all.    cam thought the late surgery would guarantee him a spot in all likelihood, and get him out of ota's and lots of training camp.   hopefully he has a rejuvenated career somewhere else - i really don't care though, and hopefully we can find someone a little more mature and responsible to play qb for us

The NE athletic beat writer is saying the team has no interest in Cam.

And people are saying that BB has no interest in 2021 QBs. Brian Hoyer and Stidham? No interest in Cam? Don’t be shocked if they end up starting Hoyer and going for a QB next year. I’m not sure they are too good to tank. They couldn’t beat the Dolphins and lost to Tennessee at home with a bye.

It's frustrated me before, but it's his body, his move.

I can't decide if this was a Ron and Marty thing, or just a Cam thing?  Did Ron know that he was going to be shitcanned and asked Cam to see if he could get healthy to make a late season push?  Did Cam just really not want to go under the knife?  Was it a misdiagnosis?

Either way, the timing that Cam and this virus chose, could not have been worse for him.

in all honesty we have no idea what that surgeon told cam.  its illegal for the surgeon to tell us.  we only know what we were told, and i doubt that was the truth.

It could have been handled better, there is no doubt in that, but the timing of everything is why it was so botched and seems amateurish.

I don't care about how mature my QB's are, I want to win football games....we could go to the wildcat fully and not carry a QB if that won games.

Yea, BB saying that, is about the same as Rhule saying what he did about Cam....

Don't believe much you hear around the NFL, and believe nothing in March and April.

Igo and others had previously indicated that Ron and Marty deferred to Newton an awful lot.

If so, I could see Tepper not liking those circumstances. I could also see Cam not liking that situation being changed.

    • Yeah. As a wild card team. Washington won the division at 10-6.
    • no doubt but flip that.   The current system insures that there are "regional" games in the early weeks. maximizing the reach of playoff football.  If all of the WC weekend for a conference took place on the west coast they are reducing the "reach" of their hype machine.
    • Hard to say with London--he never ran--combine or pro day.  Here is what AI says, and it is always 100% accurate: Drake London's 40-yard dash time at the NFL Combine was not recorded because he was dealing with a fractured ankle at the time. While he didn't participate in the 40 at the Combine or his pro day, his coach said his 40 time was estimated to be between 4.4 and 4.53 seconds. Some sources also list his 40 time at 4.58 and 4.6 seconds Unless you are running 9s all day, top end 40 speed is rarely reached.  I have always looked at the 3-cone drill.  At his pro day, TMac ran a 6.86--pretty good, actually.  For context, it is faster that Rome Odunze (6.88) who ran a 4.45 40.  Odunze is 6'3" and weighs 216, fwiw, and is considered a very good route runner with no wasted motion.  Mike Evans 3-cone was 7.08.  To put it in a broader context, through 2022, with all NFL prospect 3-cone drills combined, a 6.86 puts TMac in the.89th percentile-  Now consider the fact that he is 6'4" and 220.   We might have something here.  '
