NFL players want to play, but need more safety measures from nfl

I do not see how they cannot get together to figure out a way to play. I guess it's like everything else the rich people are all shut up in their homes not working, meanwhile all the poor people jobs are the ones that are essential. If people can still go to work at fast food, grocery stores, and gas stations then people making much more money can get out there and entertain us.

NFL had a ton of time to prepare for this. What the hell were they doing? This pandemic started like right after the super bowl.

also, you crybabies on here whining about the rich nfl players fighting for safety and their well-being need to get your heads outta your asses. This poo is serious. You can still drink your shitty beer in your garage without football.

It's serious for rich people for poor folks nothing has changed. But hey if one of the poor dies they can just be replaced who cares.....

Welcome to American Capitalism. Corporations lay off 700 people because of the Coronavirus and then the millionaire CEO gets a 6% bonus.

pro athletes are one of the few jobs in fhis country where they do have some power.

NFL preseason rosters of 90 players per team, equals 2,880 persons.  The NBA, 450 players.  A little bit easier to manage, not to mention the sizable difference in the number of coaches/support staffs.  The NBA may be feasible, the NFL, a monumental task.

There are rumors that the senate will be providing their stimulus plan today, which means that both sides will go back and forth and present the next rounds of stimulus checks in the next month or so. Some might consider that as luck on the way for people...

Are we getting another checque?

It’s football.  Explain what measures other than pregame testing and isolation could you do when the game itself is a petri dish.

Player doesn’t want to play because he is afraid of contracting Covid-19 or has high risk family that prevents them from being exposed?  Fine, get a waiver and don’t play.  You don’t get paid.  Some other kid may want to play and take that risk.  Hell football is nothing but risk and anyone that tells you otherwise will have CTE signs in their autopsy.

So in other words NFL can’t have their cake and eat it to. What the hell do they expect from a full on contact sport where sometimes you can have a pile of 5+ men on top of each other fighting for a fumble. Just end the damn season already. Nobody is going to be happy on both side of this argument.

This, otherwise the NFL brand will be labeled as not-caring for the well being of their fans and players and everyone else involved.  Lose a year and no one gets paid.  Hope people saved their money.  Let the economy die.  Vegas, fantasy, travel, merchandise, etc are a huge boon to the economy.  Roger Goodell cannot win here.  Adam Silver is playing with fire and opened himself to lawsuits even if he has CDC approved measures.

    • Hello, soccer fans [crickets, tumbleweed flies by]. The World Cup kicks off in less than 2 weeks and, well, 🇺🇸USA USA USA🇺🇸 and all. We beat Senegal 3-2 yesterday in a tune-up friendly at BoA, with Christian Pulisic finally entering the scoring column.  How will we do in the World Cup once our tournament kicks off on the 12th? Well, there are 48 teams (assuming Iran is there) and it feels like one of two thing happens: we get grouped for the first time since '98, or we make it to the Round of 16 for the third time in the last four World Cups. I tried out the lottery for an Atlanta game and struck out, so yesterday was as World Cup as I'll get for in-person ($285/ticket for like Norway vs $39/ticket for USMNT right beforehand was a layup).  The U.S. has a travel-heavy schedule in group play, playing in LA, Seattle and LA. Real road warrior mentality being built. Glad the east coast gets worse kickoff times for a NA World Cup than a Qatar World Cup.
    • Well, that's the thing. Drafting players only for their physical measurables as you are suggesting only really happened during 2024, and X unfortunately has become the poster child for that. To be clear, it's not necessarily about drafting RAS over skill, but RAS over NFL-readiness and/or a solid body of work. Lots of players show skill in college, but those skills don't necessarily translate to the NFL for a multitude of reasons. But, getting back to the main point, to be clear, I believe that our FO is still enamored with physical gifts (who wouldn't be?), but now they're letting Dr. Eric Eager's proprietary system--his "secret sauce" prioritize the players that the Panthers draft, and it seems like it weighs not only a solid body of work, relative to a college career of course, but consistent gradual improvement as evidenced by production pretty highly.
