Clearly he needs to improve on it.... Ideally through the air.... Maybe we make a move for a readzone weapon.

Just need Thomas to step it up. Or if we keep winning we will be in position to take a kid like Kyle Pitts from Florida in the first.

You must think Dak Prescott is worth like 50 million a year

I don't. However, looking at the stats the only four game starter this season with LESS scored than Teddy is...... Sam Darnold. What is he worth?

Exactly. Spiking the football over Teddy exceeding expectations while he's on pace for 16 TDs and 12 INTs is missing the forest for the trees. Exceeding expectations for this year was winning a few games. That's irrelevant. The goal should always be competing for a SB and if you're not there, making the moves to get there. I just don't think Teddy is a good enough QB to give us a legit chance to compete for a SB. That's all I'm saying. If we draft a QB in the 1st or 2nd next year solidifying that the plan was for Teddy to be a stop gap and wet nurse, trust me I'll STFU about it.

You wanna know whats sad? the 20 total TDs 4,588 passing yards 71 completion % and 8.9 YPA would still be the top passing season ever by a panthers QB.

20 total TDs would not even be close. I do get the point you are trying to make.

When the Panthers were down and Teddy threw for a bunch of yards he got crucified for it coming in “garbage time”. Today he plays so well and puts the team in great position for the duration of the 4th quarter and is crucified for his “on pace for” numbers...

This board would find reasons to hate on Mahomes if we had him.

I can tell you Mahomes is royalty here in KC. Hell, folks started sticking 'MA' in front on a bunch of Holmes Rd. street signs turning them into 'Maholmes Rd.' and the city left them.

Bit off topic but a funny anecdote. I hope Carolina gets to that point and if it ends up being Teddy, fantastic. I just don't believe it will be.

Everything else is however, and we are averaging about 25 ppg, Not horrible the Darnold comparison is awful btw you are cherry picking one statistic and acting like he isn't getting other guys in the postion to score.

You actually think he's good enough to go head to head against Mahomes in the Superbowl?

You think he has what it takes to go 90+ yards in the last 2 minutes like Jake did vs the Patriots?

I don't.

We won a game we didn't need and mortgaged our future for it.

It isn't cherry picked though. I have repeatedly talked about scoring over and over. Scoring and taking care of the ball are more important than racking up yards to me. Marching down the field and then having to punt when you get to the opposing 45 or having to constantly settle for field goals are losses for the offense.

Darnold doesn't even do that, or maintain drives you are clearly cherry picking, unless your defense is forcing turnovers like the 2015 Panthers or the 5 game 2019 stretch you are going to have to march down the feild and pick up those yards.... we were much improved in the redzone this afternoon hope it continues.

You’re way to fixated on using scoring as the measuring stick for a QB.

Teddy was able to chew up 8:30 of the clock after AZ scored a TD late in the 3rd. That drive was a big part of why we were able to hold onto the lead today. Teddy made a few really good throws on that drive and made great decisions. It’s things like those drives that don’t show up in a stat sheet that are difference makers that you’re ignoring.

Maybe if Matt Ryan was able to eat up a little clock all those touchdowns he’s thrown this year so far would translate to wins and he’d also probably have a SB ring

Matt Ryan’s job is to play offense. And score. You score whenever you can score. You are paying people to play defense, too.

I’m not a fan of Darnold. I said Teddy was doing better than him.

People need to separate the people saying “teddy sucks” from the people saying “teddy is a stop gap, we need a franchise qb”

teddy being a stop gap doesn’t mean he sucks. Saying teddy didn’t play well or can’t throw the deep ball with accuracy or consistency doesn’t mean he sucks. He is what a lot of people have said he was. He’s a good, top end game manager. He can win games managing and sometimes pull some poo out of his ass. Wanting better than that at the qb position is not being a hater. Franchise qbs allow you flexibility if you don’t draft well one year to the next or miss on a FA signing. Game managers need great coaching (which it looks like we have) as well as great team play around them. It’s harder to be consistent that way without hitting on your draft picks and FA signings.

Franchise qbs take over games and win you games you have no business winning. They give you hope for super bowls every year.

if we miss out on franchise qb this year then we build the team up other ways and hope for the best. But landing a franchise qb is franchise changing and the quickest way to sustained success.
