at what point do you just bench tre boston to send a message

Both Boston and Whitehead need to be benched and don't need to be out there unless injury forces them out there for the rest of the season.  It's fine, they can still be mentors and "leaders" from the bench, but they suck and aren't helping on the field.  Give those snaps to the young guys.

Also, sounds like Rhule has reached his limit.  He just specifically called out somebody for not doing their assignment on the 98 yard run and said we're not good enough for guys to not do their job.  He also repeatedly said, "We can't play like that.  We can't coach like that."

Panthers aren’t winning another game with or without Boston so who honestly cares it makes no difference

Well you can give guys that try, the experience. Boston and Whitehead are taking away from other players. Who cares if we win another game, get guys experience that will help out in the future. My god it can’t hurt.

My concern is that Tre is one of "their guys". I can't see any other reason that someone else hasn't been given a shot by now. Whitehead was losing snaps to Taylor before he got hurt.

Is a legit concern...

My hope is, they only left him in there to this point bc they felt we still had a shot to make the playoffs this season and he had the experience...  so they favored that over development and risking someone being worse.  I think it's safe to say now, that matrix has intersected simultaneously now knowing this team isn't making the playoffs AND it's clear no one is going to be worse than him at this point...  so I expect a change soon...  if there isn't I am also concerned.

The fact that we are discussing Boston is half my problem. Why are we constantly blaming Boston when most of these issues are on the Linebacker. On most run plays 1-2 other players have to fail before it is Boston’s responsibility. We got spoiled by great Line backer play and now we are paying for it.

I'm just glad Matt Rhule is such a good coach we know exactly who the bad players are and need to be replaced so we can adjust our mock drafts accordingly

I'm not sure if you are serious, His style is more entertaining than Riveras for sure but some flaws are now starting to show up. He is over using the college tricks.

Not a great argument the issue is far from isolated to the run game...

The NFL starts in the trenches and we aren't winning the trenches on either side of the ball. Rhule could be a mad genius and use every trick in the book, he can do his college style till the cows come home. If you don't win the trenches you don't win the NFL.

I mean 10 sacks.... we are just barely better than...

  • Fewest Sacks, Season, 10
Kansas City Chiefs: 2008
Fewest Sacks, Season
11 Baltimore 1982
12 Buffalo 1982
13 Baltimore 1981

True, I guess my argument is that I expect my tackles or linebackers to shed blocks. Why do I constantly rely on my safeties or corners to make the tackles in the run game.

The offensive line is literally offensive, We have some talented youth on the defensive line but lack depth.

You're right.

The defensive line is as talented as anyone else but learning on the job

Offensive line needs more talent

    • Biiiiiig eyeroll on this.  First, Look at historical stats of the most recent historical great DBs.  I plucked 3, Revis, Sherman, and Norman (cuzz he was our guy).  Combined post age 30, there are TWO pro bowls between those 3 and wanna get this...ZERO seasons with 16 games started.  ALL missed time.  It is RARE that Corners survive that long in the NFL and its about time we started recognizing this fact.  Jaycee is a good bet because it hasnt been anything seriously devastating injury wise, and with his sample size he could and should be an incredible piece for the panthers through age 30. Jaire kinda flops on the other side, hes 28...so hes under 30, but he wants his payday before it comes up, hes also been injury prone lately.  Bulk of the contract will be on opposite side of 30.  Will both of these guys help us be better in 2026?  SURE!  No doubt, but the question is, will these guys help us past 2026...not sure. The investment isnt worth the risk, nor would the ROI be anywhere close to worth it.  Neither guy is moving us from a 6-8 win team to a 8-10 team, period. My point is we're in this state a 6-8 win team IMO and he projects us as  a 4-6 win team.  EVEN if we think Jaire or Ramsey will make us a 6-8 win team, it in NO WAY is worth the money or capital to move that much just to suck kinda less.
    • I assumed he was retiring but apparently he plans on playing multiple more seasons.  Florida is gonna have trouble holding onto everyone.  Happens to all teams that have that much success.
    • I hate Marchand, but if he became a free agent.....
