Was the defense better because Whitehead and Jackson didn’t play?

He gives me a lot more "holy poo" bad plays than "holy poo" great/good plays.

The exact opposite of someone like say Gilmore or Bradberry.

I see the same kind of issue in the way people look at our quarterbacks.

Fans too often equate "exciting" with "good". It's a huge fallacy.

This is a thread talking strictly about our defence vs their offence. Their offence is arguable the worst we have ever seen. This is typical huddle getting super hyped over nothing. Sure we played well but we've seen our D against even just average teams. It is not there yet.

Actually it is more in the middle. We faced Kansas City, Atlanta, Tampa, and New Orleans in the past 4-5 weeks. Each team has a top notch offense. We played much better against an average to below average offense. However, it was still a shutout. How many times has a team been shutout this season? It is still a big deal but it is a blend of our D playing better against a subpar offense.

Personally, I think he is being asked to do more than what he has been asked to do in the past. When we had bradberry he had one job, cover the other teams fast guy which I think he can do a serviceable job of. With bradberry gone, he's been asked to be the defacto number 1 guy which leads to him covering guys like Mike Evans.

Tough situation for the guy honestly. The pass rush outside of burns is like throwing a balled up cheetos bag at a brick wall. Injuries mounting up  and the rest of the secondary is just as much a liability if not more. Im not quite ready to throw him in the trash heap just yet. Team has much bigger problems on defense than Dontae Jackson.

Actually you must be new here. Every thread gets morphed from one aspect of a topic to another.

Offense and defense are linked. Do you think their offense was bad regardless or might our defense have something to do with that. Especially since we are scoring the same number of points as they are over 11 games. And maybe our offense controlling the ball and our defense getting off the field gave our offense more chances to score.  No it isn't just our offense versus their defense. That is just too simplistic.

    • If you need someone to run your multi-billion dollar business, maaayyyybe don't hire a guy whose previous work experience includes repeated blows to the head and literal brain damage but IDK.
    • Extrapolate that with every QB for that matter. I guarantee you there's quite a bit of missed opportunities and yards left on the field for everyone. Many NFL QBs deal with WRs not putting in A+ effort, subpar o-line play and other deficiencies. The great ones are able to rise above these issues and create opportunities for plays. Guys like Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes can both play in and out of structure, as well as find ways to get yards when things break down and mask mistakes by throwing guys open, creating opportunities from nothing, etc. Bryce Young has only shown he's able to make things happen when the rest of the team picks up his slack. Very rarely does he create those opportunities himself. When this is a consistent pattern year after year with Bryce where he shows up lackluster, it's a concern. This is year three and he should be elevating the team as a first overall pick this franchise traded up for.  He was far from elevating anyone against JAX. In fact, he needed others to elevate and create for him. Excuses may be fine for a rookie, but this is year three for the first overall pick. Not looking good so far.
    • I think the worst issue is coaching. Countless bad snaps, XL not getting his feet in or trying on runs plays, our centre being down field when he didn't need to be. All seem to be from poor coaching for me. I believe Canales is to soft to rip the players a new one when the fug up. Plus I honestly believe that Canales is slow getting his plays in giving Bryce less time to diagnose and adjust to the defence. Don't worry I could of head butted Bryce for that fumble and the 4th down throw aways but the other plays are explainable to me
