Who to blame??

Lots of threads about who has the blame, not only for the Saints loss but in generel...

I found a really nice stat site.. IF it was not for the fact that if you look into the stats you will see that the people the FO give big money are not the people who produce the most.

Our "shut down" corner Gamble is the allowing 72,4 % of pass in his coverage zone completed? Thats is 228 yds and an average of 10,9 per catch :(

To compare Marshall is allowing 48,5 % and under 10 yds per catch. and our 7th round pick is allowing 77,2%

Way to go FO..

The 1 million guy has 7 sacks and 9 QB pressures on 360 snaps

Johnson has 3 sacks but 10 QB pressures in only 178 snaps

Brown has 1 sacks and 4 QB pressures in 115 snaps

Brayton has 2 sacks and 6 QB pressures in 344 snaps

Way to go FO

Jake Delhomme well your all know his story

8 of his INT is when he is targeting Smith.

3 When targeting Moose.

In over 200 snaps he has only went to Jarrett or Moore 12 times

Way to go FO

Note that the numbers is before the Saints game.

Here are the page have fun...

The team is also 9th in total defence. Third in total rushing offence.

Way to go Fo

There's no one person or area to blame. If there was then we wouldnt be 3-5. The fact of the matter is the FO has built a talented all around team. Delhomme is really the lone albeit huge mistake. But even then, had this team had a little more luck or a little better start we'd have a much better record.

Oh and then theres the whole its only half the seaon thing.

And 3-5...

Stat surely not always show the whole story and as you said not when only 8 games are played. BUT We gave Gamble and Delhomme huge contracts and Peppers is paid 1 mil a game. Those three things has showed to be a huge mistakes imo.

The Panthers played well for having been handicapped by having a very poor coaching staff. The Saints knew that the Panthers would do their run up the middle bit when they needed yardage because they knew that the Panther coaching staff was scared to death to throw the ball down the middle which was wide open the whole game. Example; two minutes left in the game, ball on the Panther's own two yard line, no time outs left. What do the Panthers do, run a draw up the middle like they did so many times during the game. For the sake of the franchise, fire Fox and Davidson and finish the season with the assistants running the club.

I hate any possesion going to waste by not trying. I hate it when it happens close to half and Fox is happy just to go into half-time with the lead so he plays it safe with run plays and then lets the time run out. I hate it when they are deep in their own territory and are afraid to pass so they'll just run it 1,2,3 and punt.

That makes Peppers look good. Not one million dollars good, though.

Delhomme contract was needed, otherwise we owed him 10 million this year. Peppers, we really didnt have much of a choice, let him walk or frachise him. You could argue, wed have 16.5 left to work with, but honestly outside of wr I cant think of anywhere this year we wouldve used that money that would make a impact the julius pepers has.

Gamble is up for debate. but at the same time look at what we wouldve been left with. Sadly its become a nessecity to overpay players if you want to keep them.

Gamble hasn't stood out as a sore thumb to me. Even with stats taking into consideration, he seems to be doing a decent job considering what he's being asked to do (play zone). Of course there are going to be a lot of completions; they just might not be very long completions initially. If he misses a tackle... then yeah, makes him look horrible.

    • I watch a ton of NFL because the product on the field is still the best on the planet. But, that will only get you so far. US sports fans are an aging crowd so there will be a dramatic drop when the Boomers die off and the GenXers do, as well.  The Millennials will probably be the last major generation that watches sports in high numbers.
    • The Bryce stanning is relentless.    Cam’s team won two games the previous season and legit was picking 1st. Bryce’s team won 7 games the previous season and was actually in playoff contention. And legit earned the 9th overall pick.  If anything made that team worse in 2023 than in 2022 it was Bryce. Come on. And missing DJ, I’ll concede that.
    • I see the logic in what you're saying, but I'd also say there were games with a bit more talent on the roster that some of the L's are actually W's.  AZ - We don't get off to a crappy start and if this game is later in the season when Bryce is a bit more comfortable, I think we beat the Cards NO - At least one of, if not both of these games would've gone our way SF - Perfect opportunity to snag a win on the road that Purdy handed to us, but we couldn't do anything offensively TB - Final game was winnable in Tampa  All this to say, I think 8 wins is about where we were at in 2025 if you take the games we barely won and combined them against the games that we barely lost.  Add 5-6 new pieces in FA and the draft. We went head to head and almost beat the Rams in a meaningful playoff game that gave a lot of the youth that experience to take into 2026 and beyond, and I do think 10-11 wins is achievable next year.  Not guaranteed, but much the way folks thought we could get to 8 or 9 wins this year as the ceiling, I think 10-11 is the new ceiling for next year.
