Yeah the people that think the players on the field playing gives two fugs about what spot the team will draft their eventual replacement.

IT DOESNT MATTER IF WE WANT THE TEAM TO LOSE, THE PLAYERS DO NOT GIVE A DAMN WHAT YOU WANT.

It's not that hard of a concept to understand.

Losing the equivalent of a high 2nd round or low 1st round pick in overall draft value by winning a meaningless late season game when we're mathematically eliminated from the playoffs is well worth it for the moral victory. We didn't just lose draft position in the 1st round. We lost draft position with every single one of our picks today. For nothing.

Damn. Some people are really that dumb, aren't they?

No I’m not being dumb. I didn’t want to win this game either. I just realize winning it didn’t ruin our upcoming draft. Might as well not show up by your reaction as it seems you are under the impression we have lost all hope today before the draft even happens... it’s strange.

I was hoping we would tank for Lawrence rather than sign Teddy. But what can you do? You think all 4 QBs will be gone before we pick? If so we get an amazing talent elsewhere and take our QB next year. But I think it’s unlikely. One of Fields, Lance or Wilson should be there:

Calling people dumb because they don’t see things the way you do is... pretty dumb. And again, this is coming from someone who wanted to lose out.

I think it's the fan version of Stockholm syndrome. We're so accustomed as Panthers fans watching this organization do mind numbingly dumb things that some of us feel the need to defend the dumb.

CMC was drafted #8

Jordan Gross #8

Patrick Mahomes #10

Thomas Davis #14

Steve Smith 3rd Round

Tom Brady 6th round pick 199

Drew Brees 2nd round

Russell Wilson 3rd round

Actively rooting for us to lose so we don't slide down a few picks is pathetic and stupid. Quit bitching please.

Ps we fired Hurney so this season is already a win.

Yep, the Panthers are one linebacker away from the Super Bowl

Again, I’ve made this point many times but I’ll make it again. High draft picks. Who has had a ton of those for the last 20 years?

Raiders, Browns, Lions, Jags, Jets, Dolphins, Bengals... how many years have those teams sucked despite picking in the top 8 year after year?

I would rather have a staff that cares more about winning the next game than about improving our draft position. Because draft position doesn’t guarantee success. We will get a lot farther with a staff that knows how to win.

Did I want to lose out? Yes. But the sky is for falling. And tanking doesn’t really have a lot of credibility when you look at how many teams have sucked year after year without things ever changing.

The only sure fire lock at QB was Lawrence and we never had a shot at him. The others all have serious question marks.

Would you have been happier to find out Rhule was intentionally trying to lose. Preparing his team to fail? That would be far more concerning to me than moving a couple spots down. Would you not agree?

There's no such thing as a sure thing in the draft. There is a such thing as draft pick value though. That's pretty concrete. We just lost a bunch of it.

This side steps my entire point. All the teams I mentioned have had more of it than anyone else in the league for years. Where has that gotten them?

Or do you prefer just to ignore the point? I get the disappointment. I don’t get the irrational “you guys are stupid this game was pointless” attitude however. It’s unwarranted. But you do you

Your point is dumb. It's based on hypotheticals. Draft pick value is the one thing here that isn't hypothetical. It's very real.

It isn’t based on a single hypothetical. You are honestly being ridiculous. Wtf? In fact, your argument is more a hypothetical than mine. There’s no guarantee that the 3rd pick turns the franchise around. Get off it

@LinvilleGorge “there is no such thing as a guarantee draft pick. There is such thing as draft value”

Proceeds to say that me pointing out Bengals, Dolphins, Raiders, Lions, Jaguars, Browns having more of this “draft value” in the last two decades than any other team in the entire league is dumb because it’s “hypothetical”

WTF point are you even trying to make? It’s literally illogical lol.

    • No saying he mostly sucks is saying that he doesn’t suck the minority of the time.   Like if he took 17 tests and had a couple of really good showings and a handful of pretty good scores sprinkled in among the typical sub par results.   Like a golfer who went out and shot an 89.  There will be some real nice shots sprinkled in there but at the end of the day it is still 89.
    • It's worth mentioning... Game 1: Oct 11 in Raleigh. 4-3 OT win with a complete starting lineup. Game 2: Dec 13 in Philly. 4-3 SO win without Jaccob Slavin. Game 3: Dec 14 in Raleigh. 3-2 SO win with a complete starting lineup. Game 4: Apr 13 in Philly. 3-2 SO loss with the AHL roster.  Those early season games were no indication of the Canes team that finished the season. Miller and Ehlers were still trying to figure things out, Nikishin was still a work in progress and the Stankoven line was just another line. Make no mistake, the Canes team Philly will see is nothing close to what they saw at any point in the season. If the top line starts producing, Freddie stays hot and the blue line does what it does, this could be a sweep as well.
