Possible Draft Scenario Now That We’re Picking #9

Here’s how I believe the draft will play out before we select if we stay at #9.

1. Jaguars - Trevor Lawrence

Consensus number 1 pick, nothing else to say here.

2. Jets - QB(Fields/Wilson) or Penei Sewell

If Jets’ new coaching staff decides to stick with Darnold, Sewell is the pick, If not...It will be either Justin Fields or Zach Wilson

3. Falcons - QB(Fields/Wilson) or Penei Sewell)

This is easy...If Jets stick with Darnold and Pick Sewell, Falcons will pick the QB they want and let him sit and learn behind Ryan for at least a year.  If Jets select QB and Sewell is available, it’ll be hard for the Falcons to pass on a franchise left tackle.

So at this point, Lawrence, Sewell and either one of Fields or Wilson are gone.

4. Dolphins - Jamar Chase or Micah Parsons

Dolphins are in position to do a lot here. This is where I believe it will get interesting, this pick could very well easily be traded for a team wanting a QB (could be the Panthers).  But for the sakes that trades are very hard to predict, sticking with the current order, they could select weapons for Tua or build up more on their defense with Micah.

5. Bengals - Micah Parsons or Jamar Chase or Kyle Pitts

Weapons for Burrow or build the defense, and same as the Dolphins, pick could be traded if they chose to instead want to select protection for Burrow but no other OL is worthy of a top 10 pick, and move back with a team wanting to move up for a QB

6. Eagles - Devonta Smith

Hard to believe they’ll select a QB here, they have Hurts who looks promising and Wentz will still be with the team most likely.  They select possibly the best WR in the draft which is a position they much need

7. Lions - QB or Gregory Rousseau or Patrick Surtain

QB here if the Lions decide to move on from Matthew Stafford.  Up to here, Trevor Lawrence and either Justin Fields or Zach Wilson are gone..so selection here is either of the two the are left or Trey Lance.  Leaving one of the top 4 left still available. Or if they stick with Stafford, they pair Trey Flowers with Rousseau or pair up Jeff Okudah with arguably the best DB in the draft.

8. Giants - Gregory Rousseau or Patrick Surtain

If the Lions don’t select QB and select either of these players, Giants go with best defensive player available.  I don’t think they will move on from Daniel Jones...you guys know how stubborn Gettleman is, unless of course he’s fired and bring someone new in to be the GM.

...

For the Panthers concern, one QB WILL go to the Jets or Falcons, another may go to Lions, that’s 3 QBs gone including Lawrence to the Jaguars. One of the top 4 (Most likely Trey Lance) still has a high chance of still being available for the Panthers at #9. And if there’s concern on missing out on all top 4, a trade up with Dolphins or Bengals should be considered.

    • Well yeah. Last time vs NO if we had had good QB play and half ass pass pro it is a different game. And that is the story more often, in point of fact, than the two or three hero games everyone wants to use to define the player.  That box was so stacked against the run it was basically impossible to break through it, you had to go over and around. It is what we knew was gonna be employed by teams and we were unable to stop them from doing it.    I am real interested to see the first 3rd and 8 and see how NO defenses it in the back end. Because they can look at that Rams tape and learn, but will they have enough fear/respect that it can happen to them or will we need to prove it again before they do?   Most people don’t learn from others’ mistakes and  need to make their own.
    • I like that Tillis is so down to earth  we will see where it goes ill say something controversial on a day that, along with next week, determines the panthers 2025  and 2026 fate  he referenced ‘money ball’, statistics and self scouting multiple times. it really makes me feel that Bryce will be back regardless of what happens over the next 4 games as that is the smart move for financial stability but by no means does that guarantee Bryce anything past that.  They will improve year over year regardless of position or who is affected       however, they will do the appropriate diligence and not cut off their nose to spite their face….it won’t be an emotional decision…unlike us Huddlers….for example, if Young’s happy ass shits the bed today, I’ll be less than pleased ..particularly having seen what they will do and having a bye week.  Brandon Staley is a good defensive coordinator and former HC.  His defense is aging but he can still develop a good game plan
