Joe Brady to Atlanta likely?

I am trying to be objective pertaining Joe Brady, but it's very difficult considering that the QB play left something to be desired and CMC was injured, plus he was new on the job, but I think that we can do better. His play calling in the red zone in particular, was decidedly average at best!

I just don't see how one goes from being an OA on the Saints one year to OC at LSU another to being OC at Carolina in the span of 3 years

I just want him gone to be honest. I don't want us to bring in a young franchise QB and have him go through an early OC change. If he's gonna go, just get gone.

For the record, I don't blame Joe Brady at all for pursuing options to further his career. This is just the way it goes. But I do have to wonder how this went over in his initial hiring process. Surely his long-term goals and aspirations were part of the discussion.

Yep.  I’m irritated about it

it’s starting over time again....and over....and over .   With GM and coaching staff.

who is to say if this doesn’t change who the Panthers will draft as it will most likely be more traditional than that horizontal bullshit that Brady ran.

I don’t want Brady anywhere near the Panthers now.  Time for him to be moved   It’s a distraction to the players as well

I'm honestly not sure what direction we may go offensively. Rhule's college teams were never offensive juggernauts, but they were usually pretty pass happy.

They had no defense or run game. Those 2 things stick out when looking at stats.

It makes me think that they'll draft Ryan's replacement or potentially trade down to accumulate more draft capital. The board just doesn't seem to align very well with their needs. Though, I guess they could draft Sewell if they want to try to make another run with Ryan. Matthews has played well for them at LT, but McGary is trash at RT.

they should trade Julio and get more draft capital and cap space

They'll carry $23M in dead cap if they do that according to this article.

If you do that, I think you just go ahead and bite the bullet and trade Ryan too and go full on rebuild mode. That would scream QB at #4.

Well, winning the national championship (I guess) goes a long way in this climate of the modern nfl where teams are looking for the next young big thing. The man has been blessed! Even looking at this situation, he gets kudos for stumping for Teddy (who may have actually been the best option at the time), but also has the built-in excuse of Teddy!

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

So, does this mean the Falcons now get an extra draft pick because Terry Fontenot is African-American?

Everyone pooing and reporting this post, chill.

@DFive, it would be the Saints in line to receive compensation not the Falcons.

https://www.nfl.com/news/nfl-owners-pass-resolution-rewarding-teams-for-developing-minority-coaches-execs

Teams that lose a minority coach or executive to a head coach or general manager job with another team will receive a third-round compensatory pick for two consecutive years, per Pelissero. If a team loses a minority coach and an executive to HC and GM roles, that club will receive a third-round compensatory pick for three consecutive years.

does Teddy have to do with any of this?

Comp picks. The Saints will likely get a 3rd round comp pick for Teddy. If Fontenot is hired as a GM elsewhere, they'll get two 3rd round comp picks, one in each of the next two drafts. To be clear, they wouldn't come from division rivals, they would come from the NFL but they would come due to moves made by division rivals.

    • To kick this up, The Athletic has a really comprehensive piece out where pretty much all QB questions are addressed. It is worth seeing.  https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7083539/2026/03/04/starting-quarterback-projections-free-agency-draft/?source=user_shared_article I’m putting something specific here but it should have a thread or something. It is an extensive exercise.  This is a dense write up with a lot of column inches used, about the Jets and Murray and Reich, all this stuff.. then it goes to backup QB and there is Dalton.  I am pasting that part: As for Dalton, Reich is installing the offense he was trying to run in Carolina in 2023 before he got fired, and Dalton was with the Panthers then; he’s an ideal option as a veteran backup to replace Taylor. Reich said this about Dalton in 2023: “The way he's throwing the football, the way he works through progressions, the way he handles the operation. … Since day one (when) he walked in the door, I'm like, 'This guy is starter-worthy.' You guys know I've said that all along. He's, in my opinion, one of the best 32 quarterbacks in the world.” ——— That’s true love lol. I never heard any of this. Pretty crazy I think, considering how the year went.   Anyway the dream is not dead. .
    • The Seahawks traded for wide receiver/returner Rashid Shaheed at the trade deadline. He proved to be a key acquisition. Shaheed returned a punt and a kickoff for touchdowns in the regular season and had a 95-yard kickoff return in the postseason. Shaheed, though, is scheduled for free agency. So, the 12 games he played, including the postseason, might be the extent of his time in Seattle. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Shaheed and the Seahawks are not close to an extension, and the expectation is that the two-time Pro Bowler will hit free agency. Shaheed has 153 receptions for 2,243 yards and 12 touchdowns in his four-year career to go along with three punt return touchdowns and a kickoff return touchdown. He ranks 13th on PFT’s top-100 free agents. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/report-rashid-shaheed-appears-headed-to-free-agency
