Former Panther S Deon Grant on Jake: He's the "biggest disappointment" in the NFL

Doesn't declaring someone a "big disappointment" imply that they expected said player to do great things this season? After the Cardinals debacle, barely anyone in the media expected Jake to even be starting this season.

Besides, it's too early to make these type of proclamations.

I already tried to make this point. The "How Dare You Speak Negatively About My Team!" people overlooked it.

How can any undrafted player ever be considered to be the biggest disappointment in the first place? If Jake was a 1st round pick and was making money like David Carr was making in Houston, and had the same expectations for success, then I could understand it, but nobody was touting Jake Delhomme as one of the best QB's in the league this year, or any other year, and he's not anywhere close to being the highest paid QB even with the new contract. In fact, he's making about the same amount this year that he would have made without the new deal.

The $20 million guaranteed is what makes his new contract so ire inducing.

Luckily if we have an uncapped year next year we can cut him and suck up the penalty.

Your reaching in defense of Delhomme is getting to be epic in proportions. Going back to when he wasn't drafted to back up this is a bit much and has zilch to do with the question at hand. They were talking about this year and who's been sucking it up this year. How the hell can you NOT think it's Delhomme?? He has a QB's wet dream of a scenario and he's literally playing like a retarded blind midget out there.

So how many of the experts out there were talking about Delhomme in the same breath as Peyton Manning, Drew Brees and Tom Brady? In order to be a huge disappointment, you have to have high expectations first. IMO, one would have to be retarded to not understand that.

According to this: http://www.answers.com/disappointment

Not too long ago that would have been Marc Bulger.

Ok...the last year that Bruce was there (2007) Steven Jackson missed 4 games and only rushed for over 100 yards 2 times. The previous 3 seasons, Bulger had over a 90 QB rating every year and if not for an injury in 2005 would have thrown for a combined 74 TDs. You want to know the last time that Delhomme threw over 20 TDs in a season? 2005...Freakin 4 seasons ago.

In 2007 he was hurt all year but threw 8 in 2 1/2 games. In 2008 we ran everything inside the redzone the same as we have this year but in 2008 he still had 15. So the only years this would apply would be 2006 and this year. Even in 2006 he only played 13 games and had 17 which averaged 1.3 a game. So if he played all 16 games he would have had 20 or more. How many quarterbacks on run first teams do reach 20 TDs throwing.

The Deon Grant bashing is hysterical. Let me get this straight: The guy has played in the NFL for the entire decade and yet apparently, he knows nothing about the NFL. Oh, but do you know who DOES know a lot about the NFL and what makes a good quarterback? Random guys on an Internet forum with names like mmmbeans and Pantherclaw, that's who!

I mean, who needs the opinion of a veteran safety that played with Jake that's in his ninth year in the league when you have guys like anonymous message board poster mmmbeans to tell you how good he REALLY is?

    • Should've been: Duren and Moose: 2 each (Duren for starting it, Moose for going crazy after lol) Bridges: 3 (1 for defending Moose, 2 for escalating further with Stew) Stewart: 10 (fug that dude, came off the bench, long history already, NBA should've sent a message with double digit games)   Oh well, I think we can weather the storm for 4 games. A win tonight would be huge as the next couple after are tough, vs Houston and Cleveland. Last game against the Wizards should be a win even short handed. Then back to full strength and keep the train rolling. Still thinking we get a 7 or 8 seed and win 1 of a potential 2 in the play-ins to make the real playoffs. 6 seed and skipping the play-in entirely is a tough ask. But I do think we are better than Magic, Heat, Hawks and can pass 2 of them before the end of the regular season.
    • Hmmm... Well, one of them consistently got dumb penalties that you never see any other receiver commit like offensive offsides on 4th down. One of them consistently would just run routes out of bounds for no reason. XL's only saving grace is that he has been a solid blocker at WR for us There is a reason XL often didn't get the ball thrown to him - he made some of the dumbest mistakes I have ever seen from a receiver... Even receivers that have zilcho talent (Mingo, Terrace Marshall, and all of our other WR draft busts) didn't make mistakes this dumb. It is bad enough when you aren't helping your team because you can't get open; it is much worse when you are so bad and dumb that you are actively hurting your team. I honestly don't think there is any fixing XL. The dude is just an idiot and lacks any kind of awareness and common sense on and off the football field
    • Game planning and being the eyes from the box during the game. 🤷‍♂️ it's all I got.
