I can't follow your logic. On the one hand you hate the idea of acquiring someone who 'might be good.'

So I guess you must hate the draft

On the other hand, because bad quarterbacks exist on teams (known quantities at the NFL which Love isn't) that is enough to persuade you that he will never amount to a hill of beans.

If he sucks and he might, you cut him. Costs you a mid rounder for the trade. To me that looks better than TB.

But look if you want to hold out for Deshaun you may be setting yourself up for disappointment.

Your first sentence is very accurate.

I don’t have to prove it to you. Or anyone else here that’s the thing. The clues as to why I know this are everywhere. But more importantly a lot of it is just common sense IF you know the strength of their relationship.

You want proof that he would get advice from Cam on Cam’s former team? You can read more about their relationship

https://www.houstontexans.com/news/the-brotherly-bond-between-deshaun-watson-cam-newton-daily-brew

Hell Cam damn near got Deshaun to go to Auburn, but thankfully for me he was already committed to Clemson.

You can draw your own educated guesses as to what Cam would tell him about Carolina and Deshaun is a grown man he didn’t go to Auburn like Cam wanted so in theory he could come here. But he ain’t.

So you think Watson would rather stay in Houston than go to the Panthers?

You can exchange as many ideas as you want. If some of them happen to be bad ideas though, don't be surprised if they get knocked.

Except that you aren't giving coherent reasoning. Beyond an I'm right you're wrong position. You cite rookie beaten out by MVP as proof of failure? You cite it might not work as reasoning?

I'm not coming at this from a who can take us to a superbowl win next year perspective. I'm saying who can we get going in to next season that I can feel optimistic about.

Being beaten out by an MVP isn't an issue.

Being beaten out for the backup job by an undrafted guy when you were a first round pick...that kinda is.

Thanks for the exclusive unreported information about the Packers depth chart. Absolutely fascinating. His being inactive couldn't have anything to do with QB isolation during Covid could it?  Well no, that doesn't fit your narrative.

Beaten out without taking a snap. Deng.

That he's third string behind an undrafted guy is common knowledge, no exclusive access required.

And the thing about third string is it means they're not giving you reps. A team taking a guy in the first round and then giving him less practice reps than an undrafted? Not a good sign.

But again, the thing is that if I'm going to give a draft pick to a team for a guy, I need there to be something that makes me think we can get something out of him.

There's nothing there with Love. Maybe he has a chance down the road, but right now there's nada.

I mean, if Cam Newton has no legacy here......then no player does.

Cam Newton was the Panthers first superstar.   Cam Newton was the first athlete that drew outside masses to the franchise.   Can't say that about 89.  Pep.  Luke.  Mills.  No one.

But what you are explaining isn't the same as beaten out  if Rodgers and Love are in the QB room and one of them gets Covid, neither can play. Imagine what happened to Denver being without QBs for that one game, except in the playoffs.

Knowing that Rodgers can't play you  want your next best option to be the isolated guy. Hence being active as backup, is not the same as being second on the depth chart. So unless someone inside the org has told you something it is merely speculation that he was beaten out.

Where I agree with you is that Love is said to have been unimpressive in practice, but as you said he was working with minimal reps as the covid substitute so as not to be a close contact.

I also agree that he is all traits he's a pure projection. My point is that as such he's not much different from Lance  He would be a total hail mary but I would take that over TB.

I'm not talking about hypotheticals.

Here's a tidbit from reality:

Love was a healthy scratch for the Packers all through the regular season while Tim Boyle worked as the backup to Aaron Rodgers, and the same has been true during the postseason.

Jordan Love: No action as a rookie

    • Clean ACLs really are not. He is already running on it. There are more complicated injuries where ACLs tear with other things that can cause more serious injuries. I think that’s where the confusion comes in.
    • Try to reduce the amount of soda that you consume on a daily basis. Soda is packed with sugars and carbohydrates, which can cause cause a poor reaction with your skin. Instead of soda, try drinking water or flavored water as an alternative to your meals during the day or night. Try using some kind of mist moisturizer instead of just using plain water. Plain water only hydrates your skin for a short while and will end up drying out your skin. Moisturizing your skin with a mist form of it is a lot easier to apply then a topical cream. Finding the right product for your skin type is a very important factor in making your skin look nice and healthy. If you have dry skin, you would not want to use products that were designed for oily skin. Make sure you research what the products you use are for, and your skin will thank you for it. After you take a shower or a bath or just wash your face, pat dry with a soft towel. Vigorous rubbing will damage the skin. In addition, leaving a little bit of water on your skin will help keep it from drying out and make it easier to apply an after-shower moisturizer. • I was thinking Adoree too. I don't want to fixate on one specific guy, just go get the best cost option for this year and roll with it
