Watson and trubisky.  And if you believe Fits "every deal" comment you would have to think he has kicked the tires on every other available qb.

I just dont think getting a damaged goods qb while giving up precious draft capital is what this franchise needs right now.  In honesty in makes no sense

Yeah but we aren't going to be able to judge any deal until we know the price. What we offered for Stafford seems to have been a pretty fair price but we got scooped by offering something we weren't prepared to offer(that second 1st rounder).

I haven't seen anything yet to make me think there is some free wheel spending going on.

This. Also, if we claim to be aggressive and in on every conversation surrounding QBs it kind of forces the hand of some other teams that may be looking to trade up for a QB to get one of these instead of waiting for draft night and we eliminate some competition for a draft QB.

It may have been fair (although I disagree) but its not what we needed.  We have too many holes to be giving picks away.  I mean hell who was going to be blocking for Stafford if the Lions pulled that trigger?  Its insanity

If the Jets drafted Josh Allen

And still had Adam Gase.  They WOULD be drafting #1 overall this year and drafting Lawerence

Shoot, in that case I would be all for making a trade with the Jets!  That's going way down the 'what ifs' rabbit hole though.  Even Allen struggling with a Jets team, he still would have more potential for a salvage project than Darnold.  That's not even a knock on Darnold as much as how much the raw potential with Allen was evident to me.

I don't think trading(hypothetically) the 8th pick was "giving it away." You were using the #8 pick to draft Matt Stafford. Technically, that is kind of crushing your pick. The mid-rounder would suck a little but we also have two extra compensatory picks we are supposed to get and this is a DEEP OL draft, especially inside. No reason we couldn't still take 3+ OL in the draft without #8 or one of our mid-rounders.

The blocking issue was already a problem this past year but statistically we performed better in most blocking metrics due to the scheme. It's not ideal at all but we do have the ability to temporarily cover up some of those deficiencies with our offense. poo, Cam covered up a lot of those deficiencies for years.

I don't think making the Stafford trade means we couldn't have improved on the OL. Those don't have independent things. Especially since we may not use that #8 pick on an OL anyway. If Slater or Sewell is gone, why would we reach on an OL? If a QB is there or Slater or Sewell, why wouldn't you jump on the QB outside of him just not being high on your board?

You never dug into his film did you?

There's still Lot of tools in Darnold.  And yes about the Gase thing.  While Tannehill isnt a Superstar QB, he looked good in Tennessee last year and looked WAY worse than Darnold in Miami.

Darnold is still young, has tools.  About the only thing Allen had over Darnold coming out was arm strength.  He couls throw it 75 yards instead of 65.  Scouts loved Darnold coming out.  Thus quite a few people were Shocked that Cleveland took Baker over him.

Now, he's still the same age as Kyler Murray and Younger than Burrow.  Its just the question of, how much did Gase Damage him and you think you can fix him.

I think Rhule is the type of guy who can and the new QB coach we just brought in who was Stafford and Watson's QB coach seems like the perfect guy to work with him.

I wouldn't trade a 1st for him.  But wouldn't hesitate trading something else for him.

Then someone else will fall.  Do you research and make sure whoever that is fits in the scheme of what you are trying to do.

I believe there is 0% chance 4 qbs' go in the top 7 picks.  It jsut doesnt happen

Have you ever seen a crazier QB market in an offseason than this one?

I think it is very likely it happens for this exact reason.

Offseason QB bluster.  This year it might be slightly higher than 0% something like .001, but historically speaking, your right, it has never happened before.
