And this is precisely why you don't understand that there are three different types of guaranteed money in NFL salaries. There is Salary, Cap and Injury guarantees. It is extremely rare for all three guarantees to be in a contract, typically they are just Injury guaranteed.

It is possible, although unlikely that Teddy's contract is Salary, Cap and Injury guaranteed. If it is, it would further prove how bad that contract is. I suspect, however, given the caliber of player he is that it was just an Injury guarantee. We'll find out if we cut him.

Osweiler hadn’t been awful and injured for 3-4 years prior. He was an “blind shot at QB”. But definitely in the team picture and a legit candidate.

His big payday was also before there was universal recognition that if John Elway likes you, it's a stone cold lock that you aren't going to be a good NFL QB.

I understand everything about the salary cap and you know that. If it were injury guarantee it would specify it and on what date it took affect. It doesn’t. Which is what makes him hard to trade.

It still pisses me off at just how bad Gettleman neglected protecting out franchise QB. Nate Chandler? Byron Bell? Matt Kalil? Ughhhh.

That is a problem that spanned both our terrible GM's during that span.

I am beginning to think there is a curse on the franchise that refuses to let the team see the value in competent OL play. I hope Fitterer is the antidote to that.

You have heard why Russell Wilson potentially wants out of Seattle right?  Dude knows exactly how many sacks he's taken and is none too happy about it.

Well you apparently don't. You are just copying and pasting from Spotrac's website. It's the same info that OTC has. The issue is that the specifics of the language of the structure of the guarantees are rarely disclosed. By all means, you are welcome to try and find that information but unless you plan on calling Teddy's agent and asking him, I doubt you will find a source.

Do yourself a favor and research the different types of contract guarantees in the NFL. The NFL actually goes into some depth on this on their website.

I know all the guarantees. You’re just making up a hypothetical scenario to make Teddy’s contract easier to swallow. The players that have injury guarantees have them listed as such. Always have. It’s why they wouldn’t let Kalil back on the team after he quit. If he got hurt, another 7M would have been guaranteed.

You asked for a link. Now the exact contract terms aren’t good enough? Not sure what you need for proof. If it isn’t guaranteed, why would you have to send a pick to another team to take him? As you said you would.

We all know why Matt Kalil came here, it was a heavy lobbing job by Ryan at it's core.  A popular captain and fixture on the team who was able to persuade Jerry.  If Ryan wasn't here, I'm not sure Matt would have been here either.

Cleaned it up a bit.

    • You are right--it was DC.  I remember talking to him at Belk in Albemarle one day--the Panthers were on a bye and they were (at the time) a disapointing 4-4.  I mentioned that the record was disappointing and he seemed to get a bit annoyed.  He dId not say anything.  I trying to suggest that we will get better, but I think he was pretty upset about it.  No hard feelings, but the man was simply trying to shop with his wife and this annoying jerk starts making comments about his job---I get it.  I apologized, telling him that I was trying to be supportive and not critical--he did not think it was a big deal.  I'd see him at events from time to time-he'd wave or say hi, but it was awkward for me.  Figured I would say something stupid.  Jordan was pretty popular--nothing like she seems to be now--she is holding her own in a man's world...proud of her.
    • Like we have had the last 3 years.
    • In May of 2026, it looks like a challenging schedule...and it probably is.  I rarely listen to the "strength of schedule" conversations that light up social media this time of year. Each year teams improve and decline. I think there's chunks of the year we need to take care of business and the week 5 bye is not desired.  I do think if we don't hit the bye week at 3-1, it's going to be a major uphill battle given the schedule in front of us. This season falls on three people, regardless of schedule strength: Canales, Bryce, Evero.  Canales: Finally can truly coach all aspects of the team and not focus with gameday prep for OC duties anymore. He drives the bus and needs to get these guys in position to win each week. There's no way vets come in and put it on the line every week to watch our QB sh!t the bed (See: SF game last year). Bryce: Despite everyone's obsession with thinking Bryce is a guaranteed extension, I think this year will truly be his "prove it" year. If he comes out the way he has the past three years, I really don't see how vets and coaches can continue to put him under center long-term. He might play out that fifth year as the starter, but I think next offseason his long-term replacement is found. I also think there's no excuses with the weapons and commitment we've made on offense to insulate him with every possible weapon.  Evero: Best personnel he's had since he's been here...no excuses. Figure out how to blitz effectively. Figure out how to use CBs whose strengths are press/man. Figure out how to utilize a talented front-7 to get the hell of the field. Outside of FS and maybe....maybe ILB, there are few weaknesses on this unit.
