Minor speculation about Bridgewater and the Patriots

Patriots writer Jeff Howe (The Athletic) mentions Bridgewater as one of the quarterbacks New England could check into here (subscription required)

For context, Howe basically states that if the quarterback is perceived to be available, the Patriots have picked up the phone. He does mention Bridgewater's name as one of the possible trade targets.

Dov Kleiman has also mentioned Bridgewater in this context.

Make of it what you will. For me, it falls short of being "reported interest" but it qualifies as informed speculation.

That’s twice now I’ve heard about this big bears trade.

I've seen it too but I forget where. I'd need a better source than Sileo to really buy in.

Admittedly, it does kind of make sense when you consider they bypassed him for Mitch Trubisky.

It was in the pft article about Texans not wanting teddy.

TB is just going around like A Smith and Fitz as a bridge QB like most teams do until they get their guy. No need to add to dead money though if Panthers don’t have a plan, which is what I assume they’d do before trading him.

But other than dead money there’s sense in keeping him if we get someone like Lance and sit him until midseason or whatever.

Point it options go with TB and despite throwing Grier out there and tanking before the season has even started - there’s a better plan in place I’m sure.

    • There are no juggernauts this year. Feels like everyone in the playoffs field is gonna have a puncher's chance. All the best teams still have very obvious flaws.
    • It does vary, and depends on their health and other factors. I mean you really can’t look at the schedule in August and know what you will be facing mid season or even early Any time because stuff happens. It is any given Sunday relative to that. Early this year, KC was beatable. Will they be in December? And we don’t know if they’ll be motivated, or out of it. One team, that is likely a different team in 10 weeks. That’s an example what I mean.  Far as “decent” we know who the good teams are. We could hit a good team on a bad day, and we could have a really good one. It happens. All I’m saying. And I don’t expect it not to, for random teams. That’s about it. Predicting wins is an imperfect pastime.
    • To the folks the last couple years who were boosting up Josh Allen and shitting on Cam Newton. This one goes out to you.
