The Jones love has gotten insane.  There’s so much desperation for a QB on here that people think this is a good pick?  We want to dump Teddy due to physical limitations and people are saying we’ll draft Mac fuging Jones at 8?  Doesn’t make any sense.

I don’t think the coaches want Jones.  They’re going big or going home, at least I hope so.  Mac Jones may end up being okay but he’s like a Chad Pennington type to me.  I want a playmaker.

We don't want to dump Teddy over his physical limitations...

We want to dump Teddy because he plays scared when the game is on the line.

He plays scared because of his physical limitations IMO. When he tries to press, he throws picks.

Why can't people get this.

Teddy knows if he tries to fit one in it's picked.

It just is. He knows he can't make the throw so he doesn't.  It's not fear it's him accepting reality.

Honestly, I think it's a little bit of both. The fear causes hesitation which leads to the pick. I honestly don't think that a Kirk Cousins is anymore physically talented than Teddy, but the guy plays with guts.

He does that too, but Albert Breer reported he heard “physical limitations” as the reason from someone inside.

Either way, the two issues compound each other into the fever dream of last year.  We desperately need an upgrade.

Reading up on jones and watching more and more tape of him, it seems like he has a lot of the nuances of the QB position down (looking off defenders, maneuvering in the pocket, throwing with anticipation) but his physical skillset is limited compared to the other draft picks available (pudgy, unathletic, slow, average arm strength). The dude seems more cerebral than anything.

His skillset honestly transitions well to the NFL, however his limited physical skills hinder his potential due to the direction the NFL is trending with strong armed athletic QBs.

I'm getting less and less upset at the idea of drafting him at 8, but he is still no where near the top of my wishlist for QBs.

This^ literally all I was trying to get across. Haha make no mistake, I still don't want him but If we go BPA 1st round like Surtain, Farley, or Rashawn Slater and then get Mac Jones 2nd round I wouldn't be terribly mad.

    • Umm yeah. When did he get it done at the right time? I seem to remember a 4-6 finish and needing Atlanta to win our way into the playoffs but whatever.
    • I mean....no lies detected. See above. We have traded a fortune to draft a guy #1 overall that people have lowered standards for to the point that not playing like Jimmy Clausen and looking like a poor man's Kyle Allen occasionally is worthy of a contract extension making him one of the highest paid QB's in the league. That is cope on steroids.
    • summary: "let's talk about your draft, what did you think about Freeling" Dan:   guys with a huge upside, can come in and compete to start.  High ceiling "he does what for your offense?" Dan:   it's hard to find left tackles, guys that big and athletic.  We have Icky coming off an injury, we signed Walker, I believe your offensive line can never be too strong.  If we're going to win the game, it's gotta be up front on both sides of the ball, so we make a point of emphasis on making both sides of the front as strong as possible. "how many mocks did you see Monro falling to you." Not many times, left tackles are gonna go a lot earlier than when we took him.  We want to add the best player, in free agency or the draft"  that's our philosophy, to get the best players possible. "Hunter and Brazzell." Dan:  we followed the board.  Lee we felt very highly of him , super strong.  Brazzel so flexible and loose, can open the verticle.  Will Lee we held in high regard. "you take a look at your receiver room, Coker, my goodness, your offensive rookie of the year in Tet.  Lost Rico, but there is Jonathan Brooks. " Brooks coming off two knee injuries, he worked his way back, looking great, fully healthy, will help in pass and run game.  Icky, not sure when he's coming back but we're excited about both "plan on extending Bryce" we'll keep talking, will keep internally.  We believe in him, has such a great grasp of Canales and offense, has improved every year. "he's clearly come back from the benching, the arrow is trending up, where does he feel" Bryce knows where we stand with him, when and if a deal gets done, he knows we feel great with him, we'll get something done at the right time. "if this a prove it situation?" everyone in the building has to prove it, has to earn it. Tmac was everything we wanted, his work ethic, he's so big and talented, but he puts the work in, and is a great teammate. "your level of expectation, the building's level of expectation for 2026 "our goal is to win the division every year, we know we have to earn it.  we have to put the work in every day, proving it on the practice field, and our  guys know that." "schedule" we haven't opened at home in 2 or 3 years.  We love prime time games, hope we get some "
