Did you see KC's OL in the SB? Running out of healthy OL is why they couldn't compete in that game. I have to think there's no way they're parting with an OL right now who they think can help them moving forward.

Pass.

It's a Salary Cap casualty.

He tore his achilles in the post-season. He's not going to play this year. He makes a lot of money.

Most of the NFL is going to watch him rehab from the sidelines I think - he can't help anyone this year.

No he hasn't. He didn't meet expectations his first couple of seasons and then did improve but he's been Top 15, perhaps Top 10 at best. Consistent before the injury but who knows after, so I'd look elsewhere.

Soooooo.....we don't want a top 10-15 LT???? I am confused here.

I could understand maybe the injury history or money but not really the performance. Have you been a Panthers fan long? Do I need to list the LT's in the past 10+ years we have fielded???

Been a fan since '95 and I live in KC so have experienced Fisher's career firsthand as well, so I totally get it. For the money Fisher's position commands, his rep/name recognition vs. actual performance (average to slightly above at best), and the Achilles injury no, it wouldn't be a good expenditure IMO.

Based on the injury, I can understand. Depending on the price, I can understand. I don't really understand the performance part, however. Remember the dudes we have been fielding here recently. Let me ask you this, better or worse than Russell Okung?

I'd love to have consistent average-or-better LT play, but not at above-average money with Fisher's unknowns. That's all I'm saying.

Hence why I said dependent on price. And, I do realize that with that injury this is all a theoretical discussion anyway. He may never play another game in the NFL.

    • You joke, but hasn't basically the whole team been in Charlotte this past week together? I'm not one to see the random dumb stuff players put out on social media in the offseason and think it means that's ALL they've been doing and not working on their game.  But it's a little strange that all this is coming out at the same time we're seeing tons of stuff with the team in Charlotte together, even if it's just working out and not even official team OTA's or anything. So he gets a pass from me saying anything now, but if he doesn't show clear improvement this season, it then opens him up to some retroactive criticism for some things.
    • Ha-ha, I bet that went through everyone's mind.  Admittedly I don't read all the comments in a thread before I make a post. Great minds think alike!
    • Cam was hitting his stride as a QB in 2017/2018.     This is why I think stats like completion percentage are overrated. As long as a QB is clutch and makes the throws to win the game the rest doesn’t really matter. What good is a check down stat padder if they’re a choker.  Until Norv Turner (and briefly Chud) got here we put Cam in high pressure throwing situations all the time. We also ran the ball on first down more than most teams in the NFL in the Ron era. Coupled with shitty WRs, all that is expressed in his stats. I also assume Cam took the ball in his hands on many occasions rather than trust Funchess to catch the ball.    It was also never Cams job to play the game like someone else. His presence on the field dictated the game in a way that is rarely seen.  He showed he could play the dink and dunk game just before TJ Watt. That didn’t suddenly make him better than his earlier seasons. He just got put in a legit under center  passing game again for first time since his rookie year with Chud.    Ron took the quickest path to success and abused the RPO because his ass was about to get fired.    Cam never got the credit for being the cerebral player that he was. I just think when you are legitimately a human Superman, sometimes the best play is having the ball in your hands. He was a better passer than Delhomme was.
