Sounds like some of y’all not only expect DJ to be the top paid WR in the league but actually sound like ur hoping for that. Absolutely mind boggling. True definition of “homer”. I appreciate all you guys who know how to be unbiased on this board.

Yes we hope our players are good, what's the issue

Clearly u know no Panthers fan in their right mind would root against DJ from being good. The issue is paying him to be the highest paid WR in the league.

Find me anybody outside of some panthers fans that wouldn’t laugh at that suggestion.

Who cares what they think about our 24yo WR1? They probably hope their team signs him if he hits free agency

Do you have eyes? DJ is the best WR in the league for the next five years.

DJ is the best WR in the league given his skill, stats, age. Period.

Absolutely not. DJ is a top 15 wide receiver, def not top 5. He will rip off a 40 yard catch but then go quite for long stretches. If you can give me one example of him taking a game over like a Hop or Julio I will reconsider. His contract should reflect what he is, 8-10 best wr in the league, anymore than that and you’re paying based on the hope that he takes a big leap.

now with all of that being said, it’s still really hard to find a guy that’s as good as he is- we’ve been looking since 89, so is the teams ok with overpaying for an above average wr- no clue. He good, he ain’t great.

D.J.s game isn't comparable to Hops where he is a goddamn mauler with elite WR and he is not the physical specimen with the best body control the NFL has seen at the position.

But that does not mean D.J. is fringe top 5.

D.J.' s biggest areas of weakness are our last two QBs area of strength -- beating the press and finding separation on shorter routes.

In intermediate to deep areas of the field D.J. has CONSTANTLY won and gotten open just no one to deliver him the ball.

D.J. and it's not close.

I'll take one fringe elite WR who won't be 25 when resigned than two solid WRs pushing 30.

Under the proposed question--the poll, which is based upon fantasy at this point, that's a decent answer, but those aren't real options. Another realistic option is draft a receiver that's superior to D.J. and/or acquire one in free agency. For me, the answer will be more clear after the 2021 season.

    • Ha-ha, I bet that went through everyone's mind.  Admittedly I don't read all the comments in a thread before I make a post. Great minds think alike!
    • Cam was hitting his stride as a QB in 2017/2018.     This is why I think stats like completion percentage are overrated. As long as a QB is clutch and makes the throws to win the game the rest doesn’t really matter. What good is a check down stat padder if they’re a choker.  Until Norv Turner (and briefly Chud) got here we put Cam in high pressure throwing situations all the time. We also ran the ball on first down more than most teams in the NFL in the Ron era. Coupled with shitty WRs, all that is expressed in his stats. I also assume Cam took the ball in his hands on many occasions rather than trust Funchess to catch the ball.    It was also never Cams job to play the game like someone else. His presence on the field dictated the game in a way that is rarely seen.  He showed he could play the dink and dunk game just before TJ Watt. That didn’t suddenly make him better than his earlier seasons. He just got put in a legit under center  passing game again for first time since his rookie year with Chud.    Ron took the quickest path to success and abused the RPO because his ass was about to get fired.    Cam never got the credit for being the cerebral player that he was. I just think when you are legitimately a human Superman, sometimes the best play is having the ball in your hands. He was a better passer than Delhomme was.
    • I don't think Canales has any problem benching Bryce or moving on if Bryce doesn't come out playing like the end of last year.  It's year 3 no more excuses for Bryce
