Hello Panthers fans. I am a 49ers fan and just came here to say this: I want Mac Jones to be the pick at 3. I have spent months watching game tape on all the prospects in this draft and came away with this ranking:

1. Zach Wilson: my only concerns with him are injury related. Think Aaron Rodgers/Mahomes

2. Mac Jones (more on him later): Think more mobile Tom Brady/Dan Marino. His floor is Matt Ryan imo.

3. Trevor Lawrence: most overrated prospect in draft in recent memory - he is no Peyton manning or Andrew luck. Ran a read option/spread offense in college and missed a lot of throws and especially is not consistent with deep throw accuracy. Still the #3 prospect on my board.

4. Justin Fields: high potential, but right now he cannot go through his progressions consistently, holds on to the ball too long and has a very slow throwing motion. Needs years of development. Think boom/bust

5. Trey Lance: highest potential out of anybody in this draft. Also highest risk. After watching his tape, he ran the ball a lot more than he threw it some games. Even if the run was getting stopped. You have to wonder why NDSU didn't rely on his arm more. Accuracy issues at times. His throwing mechanics are better than Fields right now. I had a hard time on whether to put lance above fields, but went with the #2 prospect coming out of high school in fields over lance. And also fields played vs more competition.

Now on to Mac Jones

I have been evaluating qbs coming into the draft for a decade now, and I have never seen a better qb from a pure throwing perspective, reading defenses, going through progressions, pocket presence than Mac Jones. If I had the #1 pick I would have a hard time with picking between zach wilson and mac jones. Mac is more athletic than you would think. He clocked in a 4.72 official time at his pro day. Not to mention sources have stated he is the smartest football player to ever play for Nick Saban. He was teaching Bill o Brien (new OC) the offense Alabama ran. When I watch his tape, I cant help myself but think Tom Brady or Joe Montana. He is that good. I urge you guys to watch his game tape vs SEC teams. Remember what NFL "analysts" thought of Tom Brady coming out. They laughed at his shirtless pic. They laughed at his 40. And now hes the goat. Im seeing another Tom Brady

This is the pick that every 49er fan will hate when it is made, because fans judge talent off of highlight youtube mix tapes, but I firmly believe it will be the best pick John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan make in their 49ers tenure

Lmao!!!

Who Alt account is this??

PLEASE LET THE 49ERS BE THINKING THE SAME WAY!!!

Fell free to evaluate McShay's track record here and then decide if you stand by this statement as a positive or not.

you say that when a 43 year old tom brady just won the sb.

people act like every mobile qb is the second coming of mahomes or watson. Those are once in a generation type players. Trey Lance and fields are no where close to those two coming out.

I should of wrote he has potential to be more mobile brady/marino instead of "think brady/marino"

I do believe his floor is matt ryan.

You should have said he is a mix of Bart Starr, Joe Montana,  and Peyton manning..

I still wouldn't agree but Atleast I would have had to do some research. lol

    • Would be happy with Lomu or Iheanachor at 19. Fano is intriguing but I don't think he makes it.
    • II see it this way: We have to look at long-term needs and current depth.  We have filled some key spots with players on one-year contracts.  I firmly believe that they intend to pay Bryce some big bucks next year.  That means you cannot hope that your rookies in 2027 can fill the spots vacated by the veterans you could not afford to re-sign.   We need to consider the cap and the fact that the need to start a rookie is not viewed as a positive by coaches and general managers, but they value first contracts--so it is a delicate balance. I think they have to look at the cap by position--"Can we afford a $50m QB and a $100m OL?  That is half the cap, before you pay your WRs and RBs and TEs.  They need to start getting younger on the OL as well.   I am not suggesting that we draft OT in round 1, but we could and I would get it.  RT on a 1-year deal, they may have intel about Ickey (who was not the best LT, to be honest) and 32-year old Moton is on a bad wheel.   Now if you go by Morgan's history, you can almost tell what position we are going to address with the first pick by noting the positions he has not focused on in free agency.  DT, considering the lack of performance by those not named Derrick Brown and the loss of Robinson, is screaming to be addressed with a top player.  Wharton is not an early down DT (DE if you want to get technical) and our LBs need to be clean--they were not in 2025.  Look for a DT early. I also think we will address ILB (pass covering Will) on day 2.  The other day 2 pick will be an OT, in my view. Do not rule out CB.  We are thin there too, and Jackson is in his final year.  I am not sure that we love Smith-Wade.  Some crackhead on here talked about moving him to S----stay tuned.   Hopefully, a team wanting Ty Simpson will move up and offer us a pick or two to move back. DT WILB OT OC QB  (you heard it here 337th--but this pick could come sooner than you think.
    • Bryce had some bad games, but he had some good ones as well (and this is coming from a Bryce skeptic). I think it's a little simplistic to put all the offensive woes on Bryce, you also should be looking at O-line play, receiver play, RB and TE play, and also coaching. There's no way when I look at the offense in it's totality am I ready to say that a so-so to bad offense was all on Bryce, and, I also can't say that we don't need to upgrade any position on offense, save Tetairoa McMillan (who also wasn't perfect) and maybe the starting guards and T-mo.
