Bridgewater isn't going to change as a player. What you see is what you get. He is Kyle Allen with a little more mobility. He doesn't lack heart and he doesn't play scared because he obviously isn't a pussy as those scrambles he made showed. But he does lack the decision making and fight necessary to get over the finish line on his own. He is also dreadful in the redzone. How many promising drives did we waste that we were gifted by our defense? The guy just isn't clutch and you either have it or you don't. I want a team leader who despises losing. Someone who won't go ham it up on the sideline with our arch rival as they go in dry on our defense in their house.

Bridgewater is nothing like Allen.

Allen is your typical dumb gunslinger who doesn't read a defence very well and thinks he can fit the ball into every window.

Bridgewater generally reads the game very well, but is hugely conservative with the ball because he knows the limitations of his arm - he leaves a lot of yards / points on the field.

The mediocre QB was the difference between 5-11 and competing for a playoff berth last year.

It was probably a combination of a QB still trying to get his wings up under him, losing an extremely productive player to injury, and having a super young, inexperienced team, and all this in a pandemic year!

Who knew who Cam Newton was before he won the Heisman and led Auburn to the national championship? Who knew who Joe Burrow was before he did the same? It's not about who you were a year ago, it's about who you are now. The way the draft goes down is going to prove this is a historic QB class. We'll have to see if they prove worthy of that on the field, but they're going to prove worthy on draft day.

I think regardless of how they perform on the field, the class will be historic because of how players will be taken, etc.

Hence 'deep' into the Playoffs.

We might have backdoored our way in with a better QB, but we'd have been smashed regardless.

Wings under him? He had the best season he's ever had. He's just not a starting caliber NFL QB.

Exactly. No one has a crystal ball on how these guys are going to turn out, but as prospects? Yeah, this is absolutely a historic class. There are 4 guys in this class who would normally get strong consideration at #1 overall. Lawrence, Fields, and Wilson are all guys who would be in #1 overall conversations in a lot of drafts and if Jared Goff and Alex Smith can go #1 overall, then Mac Jones could too.

Yeah ok. There's a reason even Jets fans have been clowing on us. Keep those homer shades on fellas.

Other than his rookie season, this is the only full season he was the starter, so that's not really saying anything. And, backup or not--even if he's considered a higher level one, we still have to have a better option.

But we would've been a LOT better. Add a great LT prospect or a great CB or MLB prospect and I honestly don't think it has much of an impact on our final record. Maybe it gets us another W.

That's why the far and away #1 focus should be on finding a QB. The issue with the slow burn roster build is that then you gotta pay guys. Roster building is never done because you can't afford to retain everyone. Legit QBs allow you to compete while you churn the rest of the roster.

Hate to tell you, but there's a reason for that.

Moore, Samuel and Anderson had career years with this 'awful' QB and McCaffrey missed most of the season.

We'd have been better with a better QB, obviously, but not by a lot.

Of course roster building is never done, but we have very few core pieces on the roster right now. The ones you'd consider in that role are first / second year players so who knows how they develop.

    • Not sure who said it first, but Tepper is the correct answer. Still, I'm gonna go with Kasay keeping it inbounds. If, you subscribe to the butterfly effect version of time travel consequences.... When we win SBXXXVIII everybody's lives change: Moose never breaks his leg, We win it all again in 05. Tommy Jone is unknown and Peppers stays home, Champs once more 2008. No artificial pig heart turning JR into a creepy weirdo, no lockout, no Clausen. Fox and Jake ride off into the sunset on their own terms. No 2-14, no #1 pick. But, no laptop, no Blinn, 3 years behind The Golden Calf of Bristol, we still get Cam. JR let's him grow his locs like he always wanted, Smitty sees Cam in a new light. Dreads swinging, (and Smitty with his 3 Lombardis behind him) Cam is old enough to get those calls. No Manning narrative, Cotchery TD, PI against Talib on Philly Brown, 10,000 RTP calls and Kony Ealy SB50 MVP. No Jeans Fridays, no Tepper. KB doesn't slip on his own meatsweat mid-route in SD, Cam becomes the 1st QB to win 10 straight SBs. Retiring after being elected 47th president of the US of A, Cam ushers in the Permanent Proletarian Revolution across the globe, Xi Jinping bows in awe. "ẄøŘƙƐṛ§ őF ŧĤə ŵØRłð, ŮŊÏŦƐ!!!"
    • Yeah your right the owner was copping hand shandies while all this was going down
    • I mean not surprised the Patriots took him in and aren't trying to push him out. They've been the most morally bankrupt team in the NFL for a long while. Wouldn't be surprised if Vrabel has his own dirt on Kraft/Brady and other assholes from that organization over the last couple decades.
