Which end of that bet are you on to be clear?  You have Lance within 10 or the other guy?  I'm certain Lance goes within 10 of Fields, that's like taking candy from a sleeping baby.  Heck, the better bet would have been which one of the two gets drafted first.

Lance to 49ers is picking up a TON of steam.

lol, I just just replying to our bet in another post. Im betting Lance gos within 10 picks of Fields. Granted this was agreed about one month+ ago. Not joking, I wanted to bet Lance would go before Fields, but knew almost no one else had that belief. Had to get some spread help. Varking had a strong belief......

I still think Jones gos to the 49ers, not buying the heat effect that 2nd pro-days form Lance/fields have. Hell I still can not believe 49ers traded three 1sts and a 3rd for the right to draft Mac "******" Jones.

Either Detroit or us will trade back to a team wanting Lance if the 49ers or Falcons don't take him.  He absolutely does not slide past #8.  If Sewell is gone, we may even draft him (fingers crossed). 🙂

No one can predict the future and crazy things happen all the time, but I agree with you. I thought if fields gos 2nd(at best), theres still no chance lance is around til 12....no chance at all(again this bet is month+ old) I was driving the lance-to-panthers spaceship til Darnold happened. Huge fan of what would have been if Lance landed in carolina. I was going to make a real panthers to SB (within 5 years) prediction if they landed lance.

It hard to keep up with you two--do either of you think Jones at #3?

It's 50/50.  I think the 49ers loved Jones' stat line and film, however, once they realized what Lance could be in a year or two, it made them reevaluate.   Remember, Jimmy-G is the guy THIS year.  Jones would be the guy if he had to start this September, but he's not.  In a year's time I think Lance and Jones are on equal footing with Lance having the higher ceiling long-term.  While Jones still may be the pick, I don't think it's a slam dunk anymore.

I think a great bet for someone to take on would be the 49ers qb selection....

Uh, have you seen my avatar?  Still clinging to a sliver of hope it may happen, but only if Sewell is gone.  As much as I would like Lance in a Panthers' uniform, with Darnold here, LT is priority unless he's already been drafted.

Im aware, going to be a change a coming....If I remember correctly you where on the lance bus very early. I was in many threads, singing the lance praise. Me, personally, after the darnold i switched gears to wanting Sewell, Pitts, or Chase. I understand wanting going to the QB well til you get one, just feel its too much for this panthers team to invest 8th overall at QB. I dont buy the fritterer bluff about drafting a QB. You can have the spaceship, I transfer the right to drive to you.

Yep, since February...2019.  Found him while scouting for last draft.  I knew we would be picking somewhere around #10, give or take a few selections (predicted a 6-10 season).  So my hopes were high that we would be in range to get him since Bridgewater was just that.  What I didn't anticipate was us ditching Teddy after just one season and having to immediately replace him.  That's where my Lance hopes started to fade.  I knew Trey had to 'red shirt' one season.  Once we got Darnold, my focus turned to LT, just as yours did.  Now, If Sewell is gone, I still wouldn't mind Lance.

Right now I'm at--in order as they are available to us:

1-Sewell

2-Lance

3-Slater

4-Trade back for a corner

    • Former league executive and current NFL.com analyst Marc Ross recently named his top second-year breakout candidates for the upcoming campaign. Ross includes Legette, who may be helped out by his team's latest first-round selection. He writes: Legette had a slow start to his NFL career, catching 49 passes for 497 yards and four touchdowns last season. Some of the struggles can be tied to his own growing pains -- he had eight drops on 81 targets, according to Pro Football Focus -- but he had also had to navigate the quarterback shuffle between Bryce Young and Andy Dalton early in Dave Canales' first season leading the Panthers. Canales recently said he believes Carolina has a DK Metcalf-like talent in Legette, who had foot surgery this offseason but was cleared to resume work in early April, and that having a full offseason alongside Young, who took a significant step forward in 2024, could lead to a breakout result in 2025. I anticipate it will also help that Carolina invested another first-round pick in a wide receiver, Arizona's Tetairoa McMillan, to complement Legette in the pass game. McMillan's presence, however, could take some pressure off Legette—who may be able to roam around in a more natural playmaking role. With the 6-foot-4 All-American likely to take on the bulk of the volume from Young, Legette should have some cleaner shots to break out downfield and in the box score.     https://pantherswire.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/panthers/2025/05/06/panthers-wr-xaiver-legette-top-breakout-candidates-2025/83475176007/?taid=681a4610ede05d000149b376&utm_campaign=trueanthem&utm_medium=trueanthem&utm_source=twitter
    • my understanding is a big time throw, could be a 5-10 yard slant to Adam Thielen given AT isn't going to separate.
