The second hour of Rich Eisen Tuesday May 4th featured an interview with John Pollard from Zebra Sports. They put censor tags in shoulder pads to measure speed, run efficiency, etc. Which I knew. But he also said they put censors in the football to measure velocity of the ball.  I would love for the day to come where spot of the ball and determining first downs is automatically detected by field and football censors that can match up with the sound of the whistle. Rich asked him that very question. There are tags all over the field apparently.

It absolutely needs to happen. Too many things are left open for refs to make judgement calls. The more decisions we can take out if their hands, the better the game will be.

Ball placement should absolutely not be a judgement call. Any remaining judgement calls they make should be challengeable.

Honestly, refs should love to have this taken off their plate. It allows them to watch for other aspects of the game and one less thing for them to be criticized over.

    • And again, when watching him in college he had one distinct trait that I feel makes a franchise QB - on those plays when everything breaks down around him, he creates one on his own.  He doesn’t rely on or need everyone else.  That play last night on the final drive where he was getting sacked and threw it to Diggs before his knee hit the ground?  He does similar things all the time.  Mahomes, Allen, Lamar, etc., they all do it.  It’s what made Cam so special. but we picked a guy that’s the opposite of that.  He desperately needs someone else to make a play for him because he can’t.  Even that play yesterday on 4th down to Horn.  That wasn’t a great pass.  The defender was late and came down to make a play in the ball and Bryce threw it high and outside where Horn had to leave his feet and really use strong hands to catch it.  We relied on a 5’9” rookie playing in his first pro game to make THAT catch at THAT time bc of the early turnovers and a not great throw.  Crazy.
    • This thread is dumb. But I do think canales gets too cute with play calling and I don't think he's a good coach
    • 2 bad teams played yesterday and one lost. Both teams are still bad today. Bryce is a big part of that. It wouldn't have been a close game if DC would have just gone rage rushing from the start.  The Panthers would look so much better with just decent WB play. No way to avoid that fact.
