For a 2nd round pick. Thoughts on what the heck the Canes are thinking/doing?

Clearing would be cap space for big time imports this off-season. We are going cup or broke.

To further I think the mentality is to forego developing players and surround our stupidly good base with fully developed talent.

I think bean and Ned both deserved firsts though. If we could have loaded up on first and then gone win or die by the time that experiment is successful or not those first would be ready for NHL play.

Im thinking Carolina thought bean was a lock in Seattle for sure, so they didn’t have him as part of the UFA scheme. I expect to see a flurry of action on the 28th/29th.

Cup or broke would've been paying Ned. This is feeling more like a rebuild.

Nah, it’s pretty obvious they felt ned was still a project and would probably be backing up whoever we bring in. Ned probably didn’t want to play backup. It’s not a rebuild unless you see Aho, Tro, Foegs, Slavin, staal, etc jumping ship. We a stupidly good core. My biggest worries is getting Svech resigned and bring Haakanpaa back. We get those two things done I’ll be happy with what ever direction we go. Though I’d like to see McGinn and Marty back too.

Reported that Bean requested a trade after he wasn't selected by the Kraken.  He wants more playing time...

I am not as torn about this trade as I am Ned - I don't think Bean was ever going to be that good honestly.  I may have to eat my words, but he looked like an AHL lifer at the end of the "regular" season and playoffs.  Rod had no trust in him at all!

Better summary than I.

I worry most that he’s more of a dougie. The more offensive chance he gets the more he forgets his a defensemen. Couple that with the fact he was basically getting rag dolled on our boards defensively…

Trading young talented players for cheap draft picks rather than giving them veteran contracts.

1sts cost more to sign...

It's a tear down. Mr. Slumlord might throw a coat of cheap paint on when he's done, but he's taking this house down to the bones.

"We could probably get something for those granite countertops. Rip em out and throw some formica in."

I sincerely hope Centennial Authority didn't leave any copper pipes or wiring lying around the maintenance rooms.

I'm not even mad about this move on its own. As others have said, he was probably never gonna get the reps he needed to develop here anyways.

The compensation was week. But, I can understand that.

It's the overall pattern of behavior since Dundon has bought the team.

Sure, we have finally spent to the cap on paper. But, as we have seen with countless other sports franchises, cap money vs real money can be entirely different.

Every other move that the organisation has made since he took over has been all about the bottom line. Raising ticket prices, raising parking rates, changing jerseys again, changing affiliates, limiting broadcast options; doesn't matter if it makes the fan experience worse as long as it lines his already fat pockets.

As soon as word came out he was lowballing RBA and the rest of the athletic staff, I knew he could give 2 shits what happens on the ice.
