Vernon Butler and Armanti Edwards are the first to come to mind. I’m sure there are others equally deserving but my memory ain’t what it used to be.

and I definitely wouldn’t say Otah. He was a beast the one year, then he got hurt. It happens.

Edwards is just one of those picks you can never forget.

Jeff Otah has to be on that list.

Vernon Butler never gets mentioned, but is definitely Top3

Jimmy Clausen and Armanti Edwards should tie for 3rd.

Hey how bout Eric Shelton?

Edit, he was well covered on page 2.

Otah's career wasn't "derailed by injuries".

He got the same typical bumps and bruises that EVERY player gets, then used it as an excuse to kick his feet up and do nothing for months on end. He wouldn't play through the pain or put any effort into rehab. His heart just wasn't in football. All of this was already well documented before we traded a truckload of picks to move up to get him.

I still remember that he had a minor injury at the very beginning of training camp that was suppose to sideline him for about 2 weeks, but should be ready to go by preseason games at the latest. But he didn't even try to rehab or come back, ended up on IR and missed the entire season (LOL)

2000 Rashard Anderson 1st round drug addict

2005 Eric Shelton RB Florida State.  The guy never saw the field.  Terrible pick in the 2nd Round

2007 Dewayne Jarrett WR USC was supposed to be a Keyshawn Clone more like a Keyshawn Clown

2010 Armanti Edwards QB/WR another pick that was such a waste

2019 Greg Little was supposed to be our answer at LT turned out to be worse than Mike Remmers

IMO, the guys who busted largely due to injury are in a different group than the guys who busted because they just outright sucked.

Mentioned elsewhere today, durability at the pro level is damn near impossible to predict.

Dan Morgan is, of course, the prime example of that.

    • Yes, he's a tier above them, but you also touched on the money side of it.  With T-Mac locked in as our #1 on a rookie contract for a few more years, I'd much rather use that money that would be needed for DJ on our defense and develop Coker into our #2.   Especially given his contract situation as an UDFA, as his contract is up at the end of this year but we can keep him around for a 3rd team controlled year on the real cheap.  Which means we probably could get him to sign a very reasonable extension this offseason to give him a little more money while giving us a bargain contract for what he provides. DJ's contract is north of $20 million for the next 5 years, why pay that for your #2 WR with the needs we have on defense and you have guys like Coker, XL, and Horn on rookie contracts who very well could combine to be a serviceable 2-4 WRs behind a stud in T-mac? I love DJ and he'd be a great fit on this team as our #2, but the money side of it just makes absolutely zero sense, that's all it comes down to for me on this one. And no, I don't see the Bears wanting XL back in that trade, because they drafted Burden, who is essentially a better version of what XL provides, a player you want to get the ball into their hands and let them go to work.
    • I didnt see that many bad calls in the panthers cowboys game, but the chiefs especially in the playoffs were getting every single call they could get then the refs when it didnt matter would throw a call towards the other teams.  That I believe was the taylor swift effect.   But its crazy just thinking about how easy it is to change a game.  You dont need but a single ref to make a few close calls go towards one team over the other and in the nfl that is the game.
    • I don't think it's unrealistically blaming Bryce Young......to say has been a reason, sometimes a big one, in why our pass offense overall has been extremely week over the past 3 collective seasons.  I think that bothering anyone, is just being overly invested in some Bryce Young argument.  It's just a reality.
