Joe Brady Press Conference After the PHI Game

I can definitely understand Robby's frustrations now. It seems like even the players know the poo he is calling isn't working and he doesn't seem to care or adjust.

Robby tells Joe the routes he is drawing up for him suck. From what I gathered from this press conference, Brady is basically saying no, you just need to execute better. Yeah I am sure the reason we can't score points in the 3rd quarter of games is because of player execution. It must have nothing to do with the fact that the opposing defense is seeing all of the same poo we ran in the first half and are probably shocked we are still trying to run that trash.

Seriously, every time we have lined up in a power rushing formation, (Hey Joe, we have a fullback on the team.) we have tried to run the ball right up the gut. It has been completely shut down every fuging time going on 2 seasons now. Any good coach who has watched film on us sees that formation and knows exactly what we are about to do. Mike fuging Shula got more creative ffs. He used to call those play action bootlegs and have Greg or another TE wide open on a drag route. Seriously we used to run this play and different variations of it quite a bit with great success.

Yeah.   With what Teddy told us, what Robby said, and this press conference, it is becoming clear where the problem is.

"Just play within the scheme"="missed opportunities"

I don't understand what it is about the scheme that makes Joe thinks that no adjustments need to be made on his part.  I hope he is at least listening to his players and weighing the effects before he rules out adjustments.

I always thought that the scheme made Teddy and the line look better.  Now I'm wondering if Teddy made Brady's scheme look better.  Because at this point, it doesn't look that great.

And that hubris of dumping Teddy will haunt them this season and bite them in the you know what.

We had a veteran QB who was one of the fastest at diagnosing and getting the ball out of his hands, "ooh the dreaded check downs" and that was able to mask how much deficiency we had on the offensive line. The offense was in much more in rhythm, the problems last season wasn't turnovers are even moving the ball between 20's it was in the red-zone we couldn't score TD's and kicked to many field-goals.

So Rhule and Brady went out and required Sam, thinking their system and coaching could turn around his career, even though he's been one of the worst performing Qb's when being pressured. And they do very minimal to build an oline around him and now the same problems that plaque him in New York is happening here.

So now Rhule and Brady are being exposed a little, they have been very arrogant with their handling of the QB position, subsequently with all the pieces they added on the defense, that side of the field was ready to compete for the division this season.

I think this upcoming game against the Vikings will tell us alot about the way remaining season will play out.

We all kept saying that the reason our weak line last year had the 10th best press% was because Brady "schemed around" our weaknesses.

It wasn't Joe scheming around the weaknesses last year.  It was Teddy barely looking at the first read and going straight to the checkdown and now we know why.  The first read isn't open most of the time because they repeat routes.  Teddy figured out that there was no point looking at that route UNTIL it changed.

Now our checkdown receivers can't catch a cold.     Thomas has an 8.3% drop% and Chubba's is 18.3%,  both higher than every team average in the league.  Mike Davis last year was 2.9%.  Rodney Smith caught every ball (5), but we released him???

This is the  real reason CMC has to play or we lose.  He catches the ball.

You cannot create a scheme that sends the ball straight into the weakness and then blame player execution.

Scheme around the weaknesses Joe Brady!

Some people said that getting rid of Dan Arnold was a mistake.  I disagreed.  Dan Arnold had ZERO drops. Sam is throwing ints because he has UNRELIABLE checkdowns with CMC out.  Having Thomas or Hubbard be the checkdown is MORONIC.

I was wrong.  Losing Dan Arnold and Rodney Smith  were horrible losses with CMC out.  They both had ZERO drops.

SCHEME AROUND THE WEAKNESS JOE BRADY!

We weren't going to win with checkdowns and Teddy was the anti-clutch. The idea of acquiring a quarterback with a stronger arm made sense but unfortunately Rhule is seeing it isn't likely they will be able to coach those costly interceptions out of Sam Darnold. I figured he would have some turnovers but these glimpses of Jets Sam could very well just be who he is and will remain. Joe Brady was always a temporary solution for oc most of us figured he would be off to a new job within 2 seasons but what it boils down to is he was brought in by Rhule and they have spoken at length about their vision which they share so if we are giving Brady the daggers now it makes no sense to give Rhule a pass. The biggest hindrance for our success is the gambling with the oline and the qb's we have chosen to hitch our wagon to. I am concerned this regime cannot identify the right player in both of the aforementioned position groups. We shall see.

And that is a very depressing thought, too.

And the QB class of 2021-22 doesn't look all that impressive right now to root for a Tank either.

If Sam is 2020 Jets Sam, then we're stuck with him until the end of his contract.

Maybe a rolling pocket, more bootlegs. Darnold is a much more mobile QB than anyone had given him credit for. Scripted QB keeper runs.

Get things mobile, make the defense work harder to catch him. It's not like he's not getting beaten up already, at least give him a chance.

WTF?  You jets fans are so fickle.   It is now apparent that the jets deserve what they have gotten.  Please, if you are going to be like this,  go back where you belong.

Sam has shown he can play at a high level.  He has had 3 300 yard games and set a record for rushing touchdowns in his first 5 games.  We lost to Dallas because the D sht the bed.  We lost last week because he had 3 turnovers because we repeat routes and OUR CHECKDOWNS CAN'T CATCH.

Had he thrown to Thomas he would have dropped it because that is when Thomas drops the ball, when we absolutely need him to catch it.  I can show you 3rd down after 3rd down where THOMAS DROPS THE BALL.  You cannot go to Thomas on 3rd down.  You cannot go to Thomas in 2 minute drill. The pressure goes straight to his head.

I hope it isn't the case I really do. Sam has taken a beating from the media and fans this week I have no ill will toward him and I like him on a personal level. You know him better than some others from his NY days. But looking back at the offseason and our training camp one thought is common for me. We should have made an effort to have actual competition at quarterback instead of handing Sam the keys without having earned anything yet. There were other quarterbacks we could have brought in Minshew for example. Competition is good. Still I hope Sam can be the guy. That poster above you is not being rational. They have barbs and high standards for a coach but not the most important player on our team who has the ball in his hands when the chips are down. That's not consistency. That's not going to win us games. We need to raise the bar for everyone. The qb must play better receivers must do their jobs and the coaches must put them all in better positions to succeed. It's quite simple.

WIth the defense and running backs on this team, they could have won many games with a game manager like Bridgewater.

There's some myth on this board that you need a Mahomes to win a Superbowl. Denver whipped us in the Super bowl when Manning's arm was completely shot. The 49ers got to the big game riding a great defense and ball control offense with Jimmy G.

But maybe you guys are right, you definitely need a big arm to deliver those long comeback routes that defensive backs are sitting on and keep getting picked off.
