Watching Knicks vs Heat and damn…Tyler Hero is amazing.  For the Knicks Randle is so talented but disappears for long stretches.  Strange.  Everyone for the Knicks is pass to Randle and get out of the way.  Disjointed.  Still…the guy is amazingly good

There's a ton of guys out there. Maybe bring in a G-League guy or two on a 10 day.

Like who?  Kup made his move…which was awesome but we will see what the offseason brings.  Need a better coach doe

We have young players that are ignored.  Get someone who can coach

JB just got an extension at the beginning of the season. He's going nowhere soon unless he totally ticks off MJ and Mitch. Get over the idea of replacing him, MJ and Mitch like him.

As for players? Again, some guy(s) from the G league or someone like Teague or Exum unless they've signed elsewhere.

@Shocker @jayboogieman Deadline for buyouts and such is March first. Maybe Mitch and JB have their eye on someone and are waiting to see if they become available. Other than that I have no idea why we are still carrying an open roster spot with our depth this poor. Also great timing on sending Bouknight down to the G league when we only have 2 actual guards available on the roster. Wonder if it was some sort of punishment for the UCONN incident?

@Shocker What you saw with the Knicks is exactly why I said I don’t understand the Knicks hiring or retaining of Thibodeau. The offense runs entirely through Randle because he is the only “vet” player on their roster who gets significant minutes and Thibs doesn’t trust anyone else. Like I was saying in an earlier post, he’s a terrible coach for that teams current construction.

Maybe on both counts. I don't see another reason to keep the other spot open either. As for Bouknight, it's probably a combination of punishment and getting him playing time since JB would rather play Martin, who returned.

Still poor management on JBs part to not have an emergency guard available in case both LaMelo and Terry happened to go down. Guess we will just have to wait and see what happens on the first. Only have 2 more games this month.

I agree about not having a third string guard and said as much during the game. I guess he would have used Martin as the guard if push came to shove like he did when COVID had hit the team.

INJURY UPDATE: have added Cody Martin (low back tightness) to the injury report as doubtful and Jalen McDaniels has been downgraded to out for tonight's game against the Pistons.

and just like that, would love to have Bouknight available but we just had to send him down to the G league. Lamelo and Terry are the only guards available tonight.... wtf are we doing.

    • If Mays has a market, which it seems he will, he's gone.  I think we bring back Nijman for too much money to be cautious at LT, Corbett comes back cheap since he's already said he wants to live in CLT, and Christensen eventually gets re-signed with the hopes he can be depth at some point.  Draft an OT, draft a C. The OL might be rough for stretches next year, but time to get some youth there to prepare for Bryce in 2027 or the next QB. I still think we compete for the division in 2026 and can go back to the playoffs unlike the oddsmakers in Vegas, but the *real* year is 2027 IMO. Either Bryce has proven it and he's the QB looking at his 2nd contract, or we have the ready-made team for the next rookie QB or Vet we trade for.
    • The Panthers are going to have a lot more flexibility in free agency than it looks like at first glance. On paper, the cap space might seem tight, but there are several obvious restructure candidates that could easily free up significant room. Between converting base salaries into signing bonuses and spreading cap hits out over future years, Carolina could realistically clear $60–80 million in additional space if they wanted to be aggressive. That kind of flexibility means they’re not stuck. They can extend key young pieces, add help along the offensive line, upgrade the defense, and still be strategic about value signings. Letting Cade Mays test the market makes sense from a leverage standpoint. If he’s willing to come back on a team-friendly deal, great, continuity on the line matters. But if his market price climbs, the Panthers should absolutely explore upgrades. The point is, this front office isn’t boxed in. With cap maneuvering and smart structuring, they have the ability to be active players in free agency rather than sitting on the sidelines like we are used too.
