I was expecting that too. If there is a C where we pick I probably would just grab him in the first or if we can drop back and still get the C then do that. I just still think it'd be worth to go best OL available with our 1 and the rest of the picks are toss ups really but at least we've shown to be able to pick later in the rounds.

I think if you have an elite OT or IOL prospect available in your spot in the first(I project us in the 10-15 range of the draft), you just take your surefire starter. Also, if you end up with a top 10 pick you get an elite player, if available. Outside of that, trade down and get more picks to spend on OL. You don't even have to target a specific position, because we literally need everything.

Yeah, I mean that would be great but I think we are seeing that the offense is going to be a crutch most of the year. Darnold is completely incapable of elevating the team and we didn't do a good enough job of building an offense around him that allows him to be successful.

6-9 wins was my preseason prediction and I think with CMC being out, it is trending towards the 6-7 wins. It is a shame we have squandered good opportunities against bad teams.

If we was any kind of lucky that 4th Q drive would be what kick starts that Darnold confidence and then also knowing our luck he'll come out 20/20 300 yards 3TDs then get hurt in the 4th Q vs the Giants or something. That's really the Panther way there.

He had stretches of elite play in NY too. It's the reason some people thought he had potential. The deeper you look at his career(college to pro) the more obvious his flaws are.

He just is who he is. He can be more successful here but we didn't build that team.

He's on a 1yr 2M deal currently (didn't fact check) definitely a rental

Maybe if they shutdown CMC for the season we make this move??

His stats through 6 games (appeared in 4) are 25 carries for 97 yds (3.9 ypc) and 2 catches on 5 targets for 8yds

If they shutdown CMC for the season on-less than a 1 hamstring strain ,he’s not a shiny toy we can keep for later because if he loses his quickness and speed do to age he want be as effective . If we are going to keep holding him out when he is healthy then we just need to trade him for something we can use

Probably but decision making is one of those things that can actually improve. Like people talk about mechanics all the time but it basically never gets fixed if yours is off. Arm talent doesn't increase any significant way by the time you're in the NFL your arm is what it is.

Athleticism can improve a little bit but that's also not his issue.

Arm - check
Athleticism - check
Mechanics - good enough not the best
Decision Making - survey's the field, goes through progression, still throws to the wrong guy.

So the easy part is what's wrong...it's harder to teach someone to go through reads than it is to teach them to throw it away. That's really the maddening part is that what's wrong with Sam should be the easy part.

I actually don't it's a done deal for him but it's closer to that than not at this point. Was also the 3rd pick for us so I think the FO/staff knows and if we can get a better QB we will when we can. I'm also wishful thinking here!!!! *toss a penny in*

    • Not in same league. Caldwell just hit a 10.00 on the RAS. 2nd out of 3830 from 1987 onward.  https://x.com/MathBomb/status/2027885023387349047 Yeah I mean Louis had a sub 9.00 RAS. Still very very good, no doubt. Louis is small, no 2 ways about it. He is likely a sub package lb in nickel packages or specialized WLB. Be fine ST gunner to start for sure. 6 foot flat and 220lb is pushing it for a starting LB. At 10 to 20lbs less than the other LBs he'd better be closer to the top in most timed drills. He's gonna be challenged when some of the wrs in the class can matchup bigger stronger faster, much less TE in the run game.  Yeah instinct matter and he has them, but that size is a massive red flag compared to many of the other LBS in this class.    Rodriguez is the LB that really climbed this week from a pure grit guy to great flash with athleticism people wrote off cause he was a QB at first at UVA. 18.4mph in the backpedal. Production the last 2 years were great. I'd be thrilled with him as the future mike.   Hill likely moved out of 51 and into the top 45 picks ( Ravens at 45 I can't imagine don't bite if he makes it there). Honestly Hill imo is a 1st rounder and I'd be ok with him as he fits the MLB we have missed the last few years. People would crow it's a reach but he's top 30 all-time I'm RAS for a LB at 9.9+ . Plus he was big time in big games when he was healthy. And that br a big check: meds.
    • Miller, Melo, Coby, Moose, and Bridges all on the floor at the same time must be a nightmare for defenses lol. Switch one out for Kon and still a nightmare. Coby really does bring a true 6th man value and looks like he could start if Melo was out after only a few games of getting his feet wet.
    • Well I guess he should stop playing football. This was his defining moment and chance to prove he was generational and he failed. What a waste of football life..
