Clearly pointing out the obvious stuff…still we have to work on this

I think you are missing the point. Brady is talented but inexperienced. Sam is an arm and his mind is a complete liability and has been. One of these will succeed eventually and the other is wasted picks, cap and time.

I just found it funny that Simms is talking about Darnold like Simms played and performs as an analyst.

Yeah…I have not sold out on Sam yet.  He has played a few bad games here. He deserves more time.

Sam is a vet next year, that is BS and you know it. Sam's issue is his brain. Just not good enough. If it was the 70's he could be an amazing Bradshaw, not today. In 3 years he will be lucky to be a backup given his 1st 4 years. Noone in their right mind would rely or bet on him at this point.

Sticking by Sam right now.  And it won’t get better with this OL but we will see.  He needs a legitimate chance

Even when they blocked for him he still underperformed. It's his 4th year. Different coach, team and still he is exactly the same player. Sam is the exact same as the oline, physically talented yet reliably underperforming. Same difference. Might as well blame the oline failure on Sam's inability to QB. He can't run or play in an NFL offense in his 4th year, it's not a good bet that he ever will even as a backup at this point.

Sam just isn't a hill worth fighting over. I'm just hoping for fun Defense at this point the rest of the year before they are gassed.

Yeah, the defense is still fun to watch. Maybe if Rhule takes over playcalling we can run the fug out of the ball and just simply not let Darnold fug it up for them.

All we really need to do is play the field position game and give our defense some rest.

This is the second former NFL QB breaking down film pointing out that Sam Darnold is messing up the absolute simplest of things. Simms here is basically suggesting what I have been for awhile - Brady is drastically dialing back his offense because of the QB. Teddy was very physically limited, but he didn't require a coloring book for a playbook and that's why the overall offense was considerably better last year. We haven't actually seen Brady's offense yet because we haven't had a QB yet.

I think we have seen his inability to manage an offense and put one together that makes the best use of the players he has.

He's got great ideas, I'm sure. He just sucks at coordinating an offense that works with the tools he has. His offensive scheme depends on him being in an ideal situation with an ideal QB. That's not what he's got and he's got to figure out how to make it work.

Imo, his inability to do that just shows he's weak as an OC and why he'll suck as a HC if he gets the gig. He can't adapt.

Sounds like Ron ball but maybe. It's just that Rhule is as inexperienced, maybe more so on that side of play. Brady has the talent, he is just vastly inexperienced to be an NFL OC. Rhule more so, maybe but I need to see that to belive it. Not trying to be a Debbie Downer but I am a bit skeptical Rhule is an upgrade. What this staff is lacking is experience, not projected ability.

Giving up hope Sam is more than a liability would be a big step forward. We heard it last week and now this back to basics stuff. Well, prove it. Otherwise it's just making Brady into a scapegoat and setting Rhule up for a brutal reality check.

Eh, I am not gonna say that he cannot improve or get better. Everyone wanted Sean McVay but his meteoric rise is the exception and not the rule. Brady has a total of 2 years of NFL coaching experience prior to getting this OC gig. This job was probably just a bridge too far at this stage in his career.

It's entirely possible that in 5-10 years Joe Brady is a great OC and a great HC candidate.

Rhule was the OC at Temple while he was HC, so he actually has more experience than Brady does. As to if he is an upgrade....eh....I get the feeling like we will soon find out.

    • I can say that I have defended Canales because I get that they are doing all they can to keep from looking like idiots for drafting Bryce, from the trade up to signing $150m guards to drafting XL and Brooks etc---nothing seems to work.  And Hiring Canales was part of the Bryce Young rehab program, so so he can't really decide to "move on."  That has to come from Morgan and Tepper. Personally, I think Bryce is due for an injury.  He is small, he is not thick, and he has been a LOT more healthy than most any other QB has who has endured so much pressure.  The thing that bothers me is this---Bryce really does not go through his progressions quickly.  He locks on to his presnap read and stays locked onto him for too long--he seems to fail to anticipate the WR/TE's positioning on the play before the cut--for example, if the WR is running a dig and the CB has his back to the inside of the field, he should be open for a second or less just after the cut.  He seems to wait until the cut has been made before deciding, then checking down quickly while moving in the pocket. OL:  There seems to be a lack of communication--is that on Mays?  Watch this team presnap--they seem a bit confused at times.   I can almost predict the success rate of the play by watching the center and QB before the snap.
    • Anyone else remember back in 2010 when Fox piloted having music under the in-game replays during one of Carolina's games? Not the commercial bumpers but the actual replay clips that the announcers would talk over. Pretty sure it was vs the 49ers. And it was terrible. Point being, Carolina continues being so bad that we get the networks trying things out during their games.
    • Is it bad I found this video more hilarious than pathetic? I am still laughing at that one play where half the people on the field ran into each other and Bryce still couldn't see Chuba wide open... Also laughing at Cade blocking nobody and somehow losing his cleat Man this offense is a poo show
