The concerning things about all this...

I honestly kinda got Rivera flashbacks when Sam was seemingly suddenly ready to go after having his bell rung and his shoulder nearly torn off.

McCaffery as much as a game changer he is, really should have been super eased back into the role and used as a major decoy.

I was expecting the game to mainly be a bunch of handoffs to Hubbard.

If Rhule came out and said "Sam hasn't played well enough to win, we want to give PJ a shot to see what he does" it would have gone over a lot better than the way he fuged up this entire situation. He's now attempting to be a coward and cover his terrible decisions by letting on that Darnold is more hurt than he really is. This is the same type of dishonesty that we've seen from him since he mishandled the whole Cam situation.  It's getting old and tired at this point.

Panthers haven't had a viable backup QB on the roster since Derek Anderson left.  How long ago was that, 5 or 6 years now?  Likely had a big role to play in Rivera's termination.

Rhule would likely be facing charges for dereliction of duty if he were in the military.  Major malpractice if he were in healthcare, but no, Matt is only being paid millions to run a football organization and after almost two seasons, Rhule still hasn't found anyone capable enough to play the most important position on the roster, much less that person's backup.

This is a huge point as well. Anderson, even with his flaws, could get a win or two, he was good enough for that, which is what he did when Cam was banged up, not good enough to be consistent but good enough to cover for our starter.

Sam and PJ are the same player, except that Sam cost more. Even getting rid of Grier was questionable at this point lol. I'd honestly be calling the Eagles for Minshew.

However, the defense was serviceable 2023 - 2024 with pressure and tackling being the biggest issues (despite not having Jaycee for most of it). I understand that folks are low on Evero because they desperately want a sacrifice for last season's results, but a step back from the ledge shows that it wasn't all terrible in his first season as DC for the team.
    • Alternate between Renfro and Blackshear for now. Simply not muffing the punt is the current goal. As far as Horn goes I'd prefer to not tempt fate with that one given our investment.
