If Vic Fangio is fired from the Broncos I think he should be interviewed for DC

If Tepper really decides to bring back Matt Rhule for another season, after I finish vomiting, I will pound the table for the Panthers to hire NFL caliber coordinators on BOTH sides of the ball.

Phil Snow is the lesser of two evils on the Panthers coaching staff. But the cold hard fact is he's a Matt Rhule bro. Matt Rhule's bro I was critical of the Phil Snow hire immediately given his lack of upward mobility in the NFL. The highlight of his career including being the LB coach of the winless 2008 Lions.

And let's not kid ourselves, the defense wasn't as good as the numbers indicate. Was part of that on the offense for failing to ever sustain drives? Yes. But let's not sugar coat it. The rush defense was f*cking terrible this year. The Panthers gave up 100+ yards on the ground in 9 games this season. All losses.

I'm firmly in favor of moving on from Phil Snow if there is a proven NFL caliber DC who could be brought in to right the ship. Vic Fangio checks all the boxes and could serve as an interim head coach if/when Rhule is fired.

The thing is, the Broncos have similar issues to the Panthers with lack of stability at the QB position. Their defense has some talent but hasn't been able to carry the team the way their 2015 defense did. And unlike the Panthers, the Broncos were able to beat a few teams with a winning record this year.

Fangio is still a very good DC and probably a better DC than head coach. I think given the talent the Panthers have on defense that Fangio might be a great fit with this group.

But we will probably still see Phil Snow as DC running college style formations and getting bodied up in the run game to the tune of a few 200 yard games on the ground next season. Sigh.

Of all the coaches I could potentially see Matt Rhule letting go of, Phil Snow is probably last on the list

I'm hoping that Matt Rhule being retain comes with some stipulations, like bringing in some NFL caliber coordinators.

I have a hard time seeing that working. Not just because it would be a hugely awkward situation for anybody to come in to a job where the coach was essentially forced to hire them even though he didn't really want to, but also because I've gotta believe a guy like Fangio would have better options available.

Better football wise? Maybe. Desperate Tepper money though? Might overpay for quality guys a lot.

They still have to work together though.

But again it circles back to the question, if you have to go to this kind of extreme to save your head coach from himself, why you keeping him?

There's really no reason to replace Snow, he's done a nice job with a very young D. Not perfect by any means, but his D is in one of the worst situations in the entire league. Offense that can't sustain drives, ST that sucks and a HC that has no in-game situational awareness. Snow isn't even a part of the issue here honestly.

Disagree. Opposing teams figured out how to attack Snow's schemes about four or five weeks into the season.

We've concentrated a lot of our personnel acquisition on the defensive side, which is probably the only reason we still look even halfway effective there at all.

    • Little light hearted topic.. For whatever reason Cam Newton doesn't appear in Madden ultimate team every year for whatever reason like most legends. I personally believe it's due to them robbing him of appearing on the cover of the video game series during his peak years winning NFL rookie of the year and the MVP super bowl run.  Needless to say I'm a huge Competitive Madden ultimate team player spending hours of days crunching numbers and churning roster management. When this was announced it was a lightening rod in the Madden community. Competitive players know Newton is a game changer.. Your talking fastest quarterback in the game and highest throwing power in the game when he drops. That a long with. Unheard of ability at quarterback like freight train the ability to run over linebacker and corners and I was stoked. I m ashamed to say how much money threw at the game to try to pull newton and failed  But it's a big deal seeing as every pro Madden player most certainly has to have him on their roster and the card art is pretty sweet.
    • A few different ways this can be taken depending on how you view things: Negative: This coaching staff is so inept that players are having to practically beg them to put them in situations that we as fans have been screaming for. How could David Tepper and Bryce Young do this to us? Positive: The coaches are listening to the players who are trusting the coaches! Neutral: Collaboration can lead to good things, so hopefully this starts the upward trend we've been waiting for.
    • I've been trying to tell y'all since preseason that Brycen Tremayne is the missing piece. 😛 XL, TMac, Coker, and Tremayne all dumpstering DBs when the team runs out of 10 personnel will be hilarious.
