this is just a dumb take that reeks of something you read on a draft blog and not a legitimate way to build an NFL team

calling a franchise QB “gratification” or a “luxury” or whatever other stupid buzzword you weirdoes who live in debilitating fear of a “bust”  as if you have some personal investment at stake in this specific pick’s success is just dumb and out of touch with what it takes to win in the current NFL.

Dude you are saying a pick a qb just to pick a qb at 6.  That might be the most moronic thing posted on this thread.

Cross is pretty good. This team still needs help just about everywhere, though. It would help more if they can move back and grab Trevor Penning, Linderbaum, or Kenyon Green and add some picks to keep building the roster. Even if Cross is great and BC slots in at guard, they'll need one more guard and still be stuck with Elflein at center. This isn't a one player fix.

To be clear, you don’t feel the position is valuable, or you have a well defined and predictable roadmap for acquiring one elsewhere this off-season?

Sweet Christ.  Dont put words in my mouth.  I never said the position isnt valuable, in fact I have said numerous times on here I wouldve been fine with picking fields and rolling with Teddy one more year.

However by leaning into the drafts strengths, which is oline, then we have a plan in place to build a functional foundation.  This poo of switching qbs every year is retarded.  Roll with sam one more year and address the qb situation next offseason.  Its not sexy, its going to hurt but its a plan.  This crazy nonsense about trading for a vet is just dumb. We traded for a vet and gave him an extension.  They made this bed now they have to sleep in it.  We cannot keep this lunatic cycle of putting in garbage qbs behind this garbage line and expect different results.

Build the fuging oline this year and get the qb next offseason.  I dont get the urgency of trying to find another guy after the 3 we just went through.  Havent we learned our goddamn lesson yet?

Lol you want to put Sam Darnold out there again? That’s your plan?

hahahahaha no thanks. Having the same QB from year to year isn’t an ideal to be accomplished if the QB is the leagues worst. What QB will the panthers be able to acquire next offseason? Which QBs will be available? Where will they be drafting?

unless you know the answers to those questions then you cannot bypass having a bird in hand.

Yes I want to roll Darnold out there again.  It accomplishes 2 major things.  Its a quick route for Rhule to get fired and its a straight line to get another top 10 pick.  Then we can address the qb position in the draft.  This poo isnt hard.

And yeah I am about 150% certain that if we run both Rhule out there as HC and Sam as qb we will be picking really high.  Look at rhules past 2 years and look at Sams last 4 years.  See a trend?  I do.

Also what bird in hand are you talking about?  The bird in hand we have is owed 18 million and we gave up a 2nd for.

If the panthers had done it the other way around last draft, if they had taken the QB presented to them despite it being deemed a “weak class,” the panthers would have the most important position on the field solidified and an open venue of top picks to select from

you could take a LT, you could also take a premiere edge rusher who can actually set the edge and not have to overpay Hassan reddick, or you could’ve taken the CB now

You never pass on a top QB prospects when you have a need a QB. You only delay your ability to properly assess where your roster is.

it would be great to be talking one of these guys-one of these “can’t miss” tackles will certainly be there past pick #12 or so-but you can’t keep doubling down on the same mistake.

it’s time to draft a QB.

I think a lot of us see it from an opposing view. I don't think you can properly assess a QB on your roster if he has a crap offensive line in front of him. We couldn't have had a good feel for what Fields or Jones could do if we had drafted either of them this year. If you put any of the QB's in the class of 2022 behind our current OL they will all look like busts.

Just look at how up and down Trevor Lawrence's first year went in Jacksonville. He's considered a once in a generation talent. He didn't look like one this past season because of a woeful OL and a team with limited roster talent.

It's time we fixed the line. Ironically, if we hadn't traded down twice in the 2nd round, or given away our 2nd and 3rd rounders this year, we'd probably be set at OL after the 2022 draft and heading into the regular season.

Starting Sam darnold at QB again is not an option and it isn’t going to happen. Furthermore, when the panthers are picking at 9 next season, we are once again going to have to listen to you prattle about how the QB talent just isn’t there and that we should wait another year. At some point you have sack up and face the prospect of drafting a bust. The good news is that if your rookie QB does implode you can simply try again next season, but you have to at least purchase an opportunity at success. There is no opportunity for success with Sam darnold.

It doesn’t matter, acquiring one is a whole lot more difficult than acquiring the other. You take the opportunities to do so when presented to you.

We'd be all in on a QB if you had a great prospect in the 1st round this year. However, almost every pundit feels that none of the guys in this year's draft is worthy of a top 10 draft spot. If we draft a below average talent out of desperation it'll only set us back more.

This team is now a year behind on the rebuild due to our terrible 2021 season. If we can fix the O-line in 2022, any QB we acquire afterwards (draft or FA) should be in a good position to succeed. No one is going to thrive behind out current line.

    • This draft is 2023 all over again, it's not hard to see. QB's who don't grade out as high first round prospects while at the same time, the following draft class looks to be loaded with elite QB prospects. Drafting a QB just because you need one (or making a bad trade to make said draft pick), when there isn't one worthy of that draft pick, is how you ruin franchises, just look at us right now.
    • I upgraded to the S24+ a few weeks back. Very happy with it.
    • LOL... Yet again proving you can't look below anything than what you see on the surface Mock drafts ARE NOT draft grades They are what people think will happen.  They are mocking teams taking QB's in the top 5 of the draft because that's just historically how drafts go regardless of the grades on the QBs.  Almost every draft expert, even those mocking QB's going high, have said time and time again that none of these QB's actually grade out as those type of picks. This is again, where I say you don't like to actually read what I have to say, because I already explained it. 2022 the exact same thing happened, mock drafts had guys like Pickett and Willis going in the Top 5 because that's just what teams usually do, but GM's listened to their prospect grades and knew they weren't worth taking that high, so they didn't. It's not to say QB's won't go that high this year, but it's to say that they aren't graded out as elite QB prospects.   And yes, I've never said I'm not a T-Mac homer. But me being that doesn't change that he will be the highest graded offensive player in this year's draft, at a position we haven't been able to solve since we lost Smitty.  Taking him makes all the sense in the world, my bias aside.
