Word was they were trying to keep him.

He may have been on an expired contract though. Hard to say.

The Texans HC he was working under got canned.  So who knows if the new guy would have kept him or not.

I think the comfort level with OC McAdoo (who he worked with for many years at Green Bay) was a big part of Campen's move to Carolina.

the mcadoo connection might have been the trick. job taken despite having to work for a guy that couldn't tell his ass from a doorknob.

This is great news for Brady Christensen and Deonte Brown.   The team is finally going to see what these two can become.

Also I wouldn't be surprised if the team got better play from Cameron Erving and Pat Elflein (though that's not saying much).  Maybe these two can become competent backups or spot starters now ?

ok....now grab these guys:

Terron Armstead - pay him whatever

Ryan Jensen (option a) or Ben Jones (option b) - would be totally happy with either

Norwell - just bring him home.

do this and then we can talk about getting a QB in the first round. wouldn't need to worry about not having picks in the next couple rounds.

Rhule might have been NFL naive when he took over the Panthers but I don't think he's completely stupid.   If he has any self-awareness at all, Rhule must have known he needed more experienced guys to help him lead the team next season.

I also wouldn't be surprised if his boss Tepper nudged him in that direction as well.

I believe all your points may have played a factor in Rhule's "awakening".  McAdoo's personal contacts/established relationships within the league likely didn't hurt either.

    • Any idea what happened to him at LSU? im reading that he was considered a 1st round pick in 2023, had an off 2024 season with only 4 sacks but was also on a horrible FSU team then went to LSU where he was supposed to be on an aggressive defense that should have given him a lot of sacks but he only ended up with one….   was he injured? Did the top SEC competition expose him? What happened? Cause this guy was considered a top prospect .
    • Sometimes its fun to read the threads/posts.  The panthers could literally hire a groundskeeper and we'd have a thread "improving the field for no other reason to prop up Bryce Young".  Apparently no move is ever done to actually make the team better.  All a conspiracy to just focus on Bryce Young. Or suddenly daydreaming and reminiscing about Sam Darnold when he was hated more than Bryce Young.  Its really fun to do a message board search about Darnold during that time period.   Or thinking there is just a tree that grows QB, and you can just easily go up and pluck one.
    • Yeah okay. We as an organization have been more patient with him than many. And there has been a small parade of guys drafted since he was, also to bad teams, that have passed him. Some have lapped him. As a fan I am out of patience but he gets this year it is out of my hands always has been. I just hope the bar is higher than it has been for him.    FWIW, XL dropped two passes last year. He did do some other bad stuff, just saying.
