Notre Dame just hired an Ohio State coach who played at OSU more recently than Rhule did at PSU.

Money talks, opportunities are limited, and people want to win.

Michigan boosters would get over the whole “PSU alumni” thing real quick with a win over Ohio state. You are thinking way too much into this

That's Notre Dame.. UM has went outside of the family once in half a century... Rich Rodriguez but most of the time if you didn't coach or Play for Bo, or Lloyd Carr you're not getting a look... Or you have to be from a whole different conference..

But reality is they have a tree and they will stick to it.

But hey keep believing in Unicorns..

I doubt he’s getting a top program at the rate he’s going. It’d be better for him to jump before he bombs any worse.

I actually agree with you that he should jump now before he looks even worse next season. I have serious doubts Matt Rhule sees it that way.

You don't get to where Matt Rhule is without a very healthy ego. People with ego like that don't tend to look at things the way you're describing. In Rhule's mind, I would anticipate he expects the new hires on offense to dramatically improve that side of the ball. Coupled with what he believes is still a top flight defense, I'm confident he expects next year to go better.

    • Right and I think we can have a conversation about that. But even with the scheme he should still be able to muster more than 1.5 sacks right? I mean DJ Johnson played in Evero's scheme too but that didn't stop us from calling him a bust. Scourton didn't seem to have trouble flashing. There can be different things true at one time.
    • I assume you are quoting my still. If so, I don't know what your argument is since mine was simply showing a play where Bryce scored a TD against the Rams in the playoffs where another poster used a similar still of Herbert's line to defend his poor performance last night. Like I said, Herbert is a better QB but Bryce wins the game last night for the Chargers. It simply is something he does better than Herbert and would play to his strengths. Someone even said earlier Chargers only win 1 or 2 games this year if Bryce was their QB which is so absurdly laughable it wasn't even worth trying to address. I mean this thread is literally called "Bryce Young is the worst QB in Panther's History" so I understand there is no objective arguments to be had here but I found that amusing.
    • I think his knee would make a good reason to switch to guard IF he returns.  Half don't.  Half of those don't last too long.  The strain on a knee (320lb man) vs speed rushers is more substantial.  So I would keep him if I could on a small contract (he will make $17.5 in 2026 fully guaranteed) and think of him as a possible guard for the post Lewis/Hunt era.  Knee injuries in big men are not invitations to invest in them.
