Haynes basically plays stand up edge/OLB in odd fronts. He won't really be used like Fox (That more YGM's role).  I see him replacing Luvu on passing downs as a rotational piece. We will see how much he plays depending on who else we can bring in and if we trade away any other players (ie-Burns). Its a good signing IMO.

I think you're right. I'll take YGM over Fox any day of the week.

I've always liked him. Reminds me of a smaller Mario Addison. All motor.

Mario Addison was a poor man's edge rusher.  Haynes is a poor man's Mario Addison.  So he's a poor man's--->poor man's edge rusher.  Major score!  Fug this front office.

Lol. He signed a contract to be a rotational player. He is a good rotational player.

He should have been gone was my point.  You hang on to a Mario Addison, You don't hang on to a Marquis Haynes. Great, we scored a DE 4 or DE 5.  Break out the bubbly!!!

I mean....we can't get rid of everyone. It's not like we have other guys to replace him, money to spend replacing him or draft picks to spend replacing him.

I mean, we could have used Ian Thomas' money.  That's my main gripe, the players we hang on to makes little sense and the money we paid them can collectively go towards at least a  marginal upgrade.  I've been trying to kick both of these guys to the curb for at least two years now and what does Rhule/co do? Hand out new contracts, the LAST THING I would have done.

Yeah, I get it. Haynes is not a bad contract, IMO.

There are so many worse than that, unfortunately.

    • Unfortunately business is business especially when there are large sums of money on the table. Goes the same for player and ownership. Does not make it right either way.  Why would he not want to play for the niners? Closer to home with a team that has a chance of delivering a SB trophy.
    • I don’t know if it’s him bad mouthing his former situation in public or my pettiness but either way I’m not a fan. Dude was on playoff teams getting paid millions to entertain. I’m not better that because and I am better than that. You don’t bad mouth your former employer in public. Esp after getting over paid and two, poor little Russian baby didn’t get the playing spot he wanted. Rod had him exactly where is was supposed to be.  He had a mean lip check and did defend our players. Specifically the devils game around Christmas where is our Haula on his ass. Cool. Thank you. But don’t talk poo about us. Because it make you look like Haula.    “need to get as far away as possible”. fug off. Didn’t see Burnsy bad mouthing and his play dropped off too.    sorry, but Orlov doesn’t get a pass from me. See you twice a year…
    • I don't really care about your post at all. I just saw the direction of the discussion and this snippet from an article I read earlier in the day was a good spot to put non-Panthers info. I mostly don't care about the players personal lives. That's off the field/personal poo. Not really any of my business.  I also don't know him personally so what would be the point of congratulating him outside basically attempting to draw attention to myself like so many in the social media/internet realm.
