Throwing Hurney under the bus.

Which is what I am about to do. I understand all of the good moves he has made. He was very instrumental in our playoff pushes. But to give up a high draft pick in the first round for 2nd round DE is in my opinion, the worst move he could ever make. He gambled last year and won. I know I am beating a dead horse, but I felt the need to sound off because I get over what a dumb move he made. not to mention our horrible offseason. I hope the 49ers sent him a thank you card for the 7th overall pick in the 2010 draft. thats all. rant over.

I swear get over it man. Just focus on this and next year. We will be okay next year, boohhoo we dont' have a first round pick... well saves up money, just wait a year or two and see if Brown has any impact or not. Tired of hearing the same crap over and over again.

If you're tired of hearing the complaining, leave. It will never stop. Maybe if we can put together a string of winning seasons like New England and Indianapolis have done it would. And I always love you, "it'll will be fine" optimists. The ones that said that in the preseason have all turned sour (hi, rayzor!). This is the NFL, it's about right now, not "a year or two" and "we'll save up money". This ain't college. Hurney made the Brown move to win now, no matter how you people want to spin it.

Really there are alot of factors that make us sucktastic this year and no one man is to blame. Coaching,Players,Contracts take your pick man. If there was a year of bad and weird decisions made it was this year. On top of all that we have had a injury plagued year to boot. Not that is any excuses and I think its the opposite when a team is winning they have less injures then a team that is just fighting for a WIN. Still Kemo,Davis, and Gross are gone.... Thats a big hit if you ask me and thats just the major guys. Tell you the truth who ever pulls the stings in our offenses is one of the worst coaches ever...... One week we run next we pass then another we just decide that a 14pt lead over the most powerful offensive team in the league is enough. Just crazy if you ask me..... Oh but we can still be 10-6 if we try ;)

So in this thread, I guess Fox is a genius for winning at all because Hurney sucks. In others Fox needs to be fired because he can't win with the wealth of talent that Hurney has provided him.

Got it. :)

I've been saying this about the average huddler for years.

Ill give credit. He's had alot of hits in the draft. He's also had alot of misses in the 2nd round on down. He's also had alot of free agent busts. Hurney should be given credit for some of the solid things he's done over the years. But he deserves to be scrutinized for the horrible offseason we just had after trading a 1st round pick for a 2nd round talent and for giving the worst QB in the NFL $20 million.

The decision to draft Brown was a good one. The bad decision was allowing Peppers to tie us down. He did more to hurt this team than anyone. You could blame Hurney for not trying to deal Peppers before the trading deadline last year. But Peppers limit on who he would play for really tied our hands. The Brown pick IMO was incase we somehow got a taker for Peppers. I like the pick and I think in the end we will be laughing we got him in the 2nd round.

Didn't he come out a year early too?

Don't be offended. I ask everybody this. If you really believe tying up 17 mill for Peppers was a bad move, who would you have spent that money on? WHo was out there that was available for us to sign that you think would have helped us?

Not offended at all.

DEPTH. WR, Albert Haynesworth, there were a ton of players we could have improved with. We lost most of our experienced backups on the offensive line. Boldin was to be had. We did NOTHING in the F.A. market. Peppers clearly tied our hands in the F.A. market. You think paying Peppers 1m a week for the regular season is worth what he has given us. He has played well but for that kind of money he should be in the QB's pocket every play.

You have your opinion and I have mine. Had we dealt Peppers or signed him to a reasonable deal we would have funds to tap the F.A. market for help.

I believe had we had money we would have brought in a Veteran WR to compliment Smitty. This year we will.

Go Panthers

    • To start with, you wouldn’t want to count up that value chart. You would see quickly where that is headed. But you basically did a quantity comparison, while ignoring quality.  I am looking at 2023 as the start, because it became all about Bryce.  2023 you have 4 picks plus DJ Moore for offense vs 2 (80 and 145) for defense.  2024 you got the 1st overall, the 32, the 46 and the 101 for offense vs 72, 157, 200 and 240 for defense. Leave the FA IOL out of it. Which was a crazy big  investment. But it wasn’t draft.  Anyway, that is basically 4 top 100 picks for offense and 4 picks for defense in 2024. Except they were 2 first rounders, the second rounder, and the 4th was really high at 101. Vs 72 and day three stuff. Please….  Second quoted/bolded… See you think we hate Bryce. That isn’t it at all. It is nice easy way to characterize us and discredit our talking points though.   Me, I do mostly hate watching him play. But I don’t hate the person. I hate the hell out of the stanning.  It started with the very first question I asked about his footwork, arm strength, and size. Height being the principle objection. I never even got to the durability factor. There was plenty without factoring that in.  But there was rabid opposition to even asking the question of what a couple of small fractions of a second extra closing time would do for the defenders.  What the extra time it takes to flip the hips would do vs a pass rush or on the other end after the ball is in the air. Split second more for recognition where it is going for the DBs.  The tippy toe backpedal.  That poo was a mess and it has always been mess but no Bryce fan wanted to hear it. “Go get another team to root for”. “It worked in the SEC it will be fine in the NFL you don’t know football you are just a hater”.  It got worse when the real games started. It has never stopped. It is nice that many people have left that train so there is less abuse but it hasn’t stopped.  So whatever…
    • Whatever school you attended, I don't know and I don't care, but I would suggest demanding a refund.    Something was completely missed there.
    • The draft capital since since 2023 has in no way been pretty even.  Especially when you zero in on day 1 and day 2 draft picks.  Draft capital has vastly gone toward the O over D.
