Panthers sign Andre Roberts

Recommended Posts

Was excited because I know he has been a multi-time pro bowler and all-pro, but damn...  I did not know he was 34 now.  Wow!  Still excited though, because even at 34, he will get us way more than The Human Fair Catch did all last season.  Great pickup this late.

The 34-year-old Roberts was an All-Pro pick three times in the last four seasons, and led the league in kickoff return yards last year (1,010, with two teams). His 8,578 combined return yards (kickoff and punt) are the most of any player in the league since 2010.

But he was not 34 when he did those things. According to my smart phone, he will be 35 within a year.

Panthers GM Scott Fitterer said after the draft he wanted to add a kick returner and he got a good one. Carolina signed Andre Roberts, 34, an All-Pro pick three times in the last four seasons. Roberts led the league in kickoff return yards last year with 1,010. His 8,578 combined return yards are the post of any player in the league since 2010. He is from Columbia, South Carolina and attended The Citadel.

    • Short version = these people have had those seats since the beginning and haven't missed a game. They have always had their sign. They had to change the sign - I think in 2015 when Cam ripped that Packers fan's banner down (love him for that, by the way) - to be compliant and haven't had any issues in the last 10 years. The Panthers even used a photo of them and their sign in their album from the Falcons game. In the 3rd quarter last weekend it was decided that the sign needed to come down. Seems weird and unnecessary, especially since it has been there for every game for a decade.   Also "cringe" is a funny word for someone over the age of 18 who lives and overshares on the Huddle. But, ok....
    • Just watched those buc Hawks highlights and good lord....both of them were slinging the ball around. Its definitely a talent issue, I dont know how anybody thinks bryce is just gonna go to another team and start doing that.
    • Thielen was traded away right before our season started. Coker got hurt right before our season started. Renfrow, a player that hasn't played in a while went from cut to being thrust onto the field. Moore, the one vet we did keep, is currently out. Bad things seem to happen trying to throw to XL. Oh, and Tremble was out for a few weeks while Sanders is currently out himself.  Simply starting the fact that we can't even keep a #2 on the field. You're hoping one of the many rookies pulls off a Coker and starts having consistent production.
