Game #4 Canes vs Rangers 7pm Puck Drop

Recommended Posts

Not gonna lie, I turned off the game after it went 2-0 in the 1st. The officiating is garbage throughout the NHL, but it's magnified in the playoffs. No consistency and a very obvious bias towards the big market teams. If anyone would have told me before the game the Canes would only have 2 PPs for the entire game, I'd say they were nuts with the way NY has been tripping, hooking and interfering the entire series.

But, I have no control over that. So, I focus on the team instead and, right now, I have no answers, only questions. The Canes are clearly the better team, but playing down to the competition has always been their Achilles heel. They look nervous playing on someone else's ice- they looked that way in Boston and they look the same in NY. Missed passes, mishandling the puck, sloppy turnovers, bad decisions, etc. I don't know the Canes will get out of this series the way they're playing right now.

All truths except we will get out of the series. I’m confident in that one. We will win tmrw, lose in NY, then win in game 7. Unless magic happens and we win game 6. Canes are still very good. Remember,  2 open nets and a goal post last night it would be a tie game. It’s not like we are bad.  Some of our players just need to step up and get better goalie play on the road. WE WILL BE FINE. This is the same as the Boston series.

We were bad. Don’t be delusional.

You obviously don’t post in these game threads. I’ve had the same message each time. Plus I don’t overreact after 1… bad game. Come back when you have something better to say.

Constant positivity can be just as annoying as constant negativity.
Canes are not a Stanley Cup team. We will lose at home eventually.
We barely won at home the last 2 times.
Also it isn’t just one bad game.

Whatever man playoffs are about wins and losses that’s it who gives a poo how they played. Don’t come at me with over positivity it’s too much. If you don’t like it go somewhere else.

I swear, a lot of you people are your very typical Panthers fans. If you play like poo but you win the team sucks. We’re two and two in the second round of the playoffs. We’re play nothing but good teams and one of the last eight teams left   I don’t give a poo how we play, as long as we win. If you’re going to get bent out of shape go back to the Panthers form. Or like Trevor said the Reddit forms. That place is full of negativity and toxicity. We ain’t got time for that poo here. We’re here for championships and to win.

100%. Imagine being annoyed by someone because they are too positive…. If someone gets annoyed because you’re too positive that person has struggles in their life that bleed into many things. I’m gonna continue to be positive on here and watch us beat the Rangers in this round.

I think the disconnect is that objectively we are a more talented team than the Rangers. There is a blatant psychological hurdle the team needs to overcome when going on the road, forecheck and pp are nonexistent, and our premier players we’ve recently signed to 6-8 year long contracts are noticeably absent on the road and some of them at home. Its frustrating to watch and couple that win at questionable reffing (I’m not the most experienced/knowledgeable fan) or at best inconsistent reffing and it makes for an apathetic fan base.

You are NOT the mod of this forum and thank god for that because you and your homerism would ban anyone with anything negative to say about the Hurricanes both you and TT22 are some of the worse fans on the other side of the spectrum.
You don’t let anyone be critical of the team and immediately slam anyone who is.
Guess what so am not going anywhere. Nor will I ever say anything to get banned from the forum.

Or I could just ignore you. But I really don’t feel like it. You are not as bad as TT22.

Nah man. This is a free FAN forum. Not a “Only Say Positive Things About the Hurricanes Forum”.
I will be positive when it is right to be positive. I will be negative when there is a need to be negative.
I will not slapping a smile on my face and say everything is alright. I am not that type of fan or person.

    • Here’s a summary of the JJ and Luke podcast transcript. Opening / Bryce Young Fifth-Year Option     •    JJ: Breaking news — Panthers picked up Bryce Young’s fifth-year option at $25.9M, guaranteed, coming in 2027. Combined with his 2025 salary of ~$6M, that’s $31M over two years — called it a “no-brainer.”     •    Luke: Enthusiastic about the move. Highlighted Bryce’s improving TD/INT ratios (11/10 → 15/9 → 23/11) and the value of entering year three with Dave Canales. Noted $25M is a bargain relative to the $60M top of market. Luke’s Personal Update — Charlotte Christian Football     •    Luke: Working with Charlotte Christian school football program, which hired a new head coach. Coaches include Greg Olsen, Luke, and Greg’s dad Chris Olsen (a New Jersey State coaching Hall of Famer).     •    JJ: Jokingly quipped that Charlotte Christian’s coaching staff is “the world’s greatest” — a Fox analyst, a Hall of Famer, and the best Panthers RB ever — all coaching middle school football.     •    Luke: Praised Chris Olsen’s deep football knowledge spanning decades and his ability to connect with kids. Round 1, Pick 19 — Monroe Freeling, OT, Georgia     •    JJ: Panthers were on the clock and submitted their pick almost immediately — a sign of confidence and preparation. Freeling is 6’7”, 320 lbs, played in the SEC in a pro-style system.     •    Luke: Loved the pick. Emphasized you can never have too many quality offensive linemen. Noted Freeling’s size, athleticism, and arm length as key traits. Said the pick also reflects team’s philosophy of drafting great people, not just great players.     •    JJ: Noted reporter Darren Gantt compared Freeling favorably to Jordan Gross — bigger, heavier, and faster — as a potential franchise left tackle.     •    Luke: Pointed out that young players like Freeling still have physical development ahead of them, comparing the trajectory to Christian McCaffrey’s growth from age 20 onward. Round 2, Pick 49 — Lee Hunter, DT, Texas Tech     •    JJ: Panthers traded up from 51 to 49 (pick swap with Minnesota) to grab Hunter. Played audio from Panthers area scout Kaden McLuhan, who scouted Hunter.     •    Scout Kaden McLuhan (audio): Said Hunter’s size is immediately striking, and that everyone around him spoke glowingly about his character, energy, and love for the game.     •    Luke: Praised Hunter as a massive (6’3”, 320 lbs, ~34” arms) two-gap nose tackle who fits perfectly in the Evero defense. Compared his prospect profile to Akiem Hicks. Said having Derek Brown, Bobby Brown, Derrick Brown, Terson Wharton, and now Hunter creates varied body types that stress offensive linemen.     •    JJ: Noted Hunter ranked third among all prospects in run-stuff rate and sixth in interior pass-rush win rate — addressing a perception that he couldn’t rush the passer. Rounds 3–7 Highlights     •    Luke: Highlighted WR Brazle (3rd round, 6’4”, 437 speed, 1,000+ yards at Tennessee) as the vertical threat the offense needed. Also praised OL Sam Heck (5th round) as a technically sound player whose “short arms” caused him to fall but who has proven himself.     •    Luke: Mentioned CB Will Lee (6’1”, 33” arms) fits the Panthers’ DB prototype — big, long corners.     •    Luke: Praised S/LB hybrid Zaki Wheatley (5th round, 6’3”) as a big nickel similar to Trayvon Merek.     •    Luke: Excited about the linebacker competition between Devin Lloyd, Trevvin Wallace, and Claudin Cherless.     •    JJ: Noted Panthers had the #1 “steal/overreach” rating in the entire draft — drafting players lower than consensus big boards projected. Around the League     •    Luke: Admitted being “a little jealous” that the Miami Dolphins drafted LB Jacob Rodriguez (Luke’s favorite LB in the draft). Has personal connections to Miami’s coaching staff (Jeff Hafley, DC Shawn Dugen — a childhood teammate).     •    Luke: Also noted Miami’s selection of OT/G Kaden Proctor out of Alabama, who will likely move to guard. League Trends — Bigger Tight Ends / 12 & 13 Personnel     •    JJ: Observed the NFL saw its highest run rate in ~11 years (~52%) and a notable pivot toward big blocking tight ends in this draft.     •    Luke: Explained the cyclical nature of NFL offense/defense evolution — as defenses get smaller to match spread offenses, teams counter with bigger personnel (12/13 formations), which then forces defenses to get bigger at the nickel/“big nickel” spot. Called it an ongoing arms race.
    • Dan Vladar is their best player and that is going to be the difference in the series
    • Nothing about the Flyers scare me. They are a mid team that just barely made the playoffs.
