This move is 90% to set us back 3 plus years if not more.

I think we just cemented our place in Purgatory.

By what?  Giving us a worse draft pick if he plays well?  If he plays bad it shouldn't change much at all.

Like everyone says he plays to his normal 10 win self and Rhule thinks he's found the answer and we sign him long term and never win the Superbowl.

I don't give a phuck about making the playoffs if we don't win the Superbowl.

Some people think you have to absolutely suck to get better.  5 wins were too many.  We need that  top 3 draft pick to get the QB of the future.  It worked out great for the Browns and Jets with Mayfield and Darnold.

Its madness.  Giving up hope before we've played a snap.

The new staff will most certainly draft one next year

If Baker is a bottom tier QB and Rhule is a terrible coach we should have a nice pick and can let Baker walk.  Wash our hands free of him and let our new coach draft his guy to compete with Corral.  If Corral is good we could have two young cheap QBs which is a great problem to have.

Mr completely just has to accept that this is who we are for now. He griped for weeks and weeks about this years QB class now he's posted up here all day griping about Mayfield. We are not tanking we never were in fact this is the very thing people tried to tell him but he didn't want to hear it. We were always going to try to compete. You can let this ruin your whole summer and fall or you can roll with it.

Who said anything about tanking?

Weren't you one of the people saying we should force Rhule to start Sam and let him get us a top 5 pick? At one point that was a fairly common take amongst those who didn’t want a QB in the draft. Most with common sense poured cold water on that though.

    • Exactly. This has decimated the fanbase as well. There’s wayyyy less excitement even for a year where we have “improved”
    • It's about his playing style. I pointed all this put leading up to the draft. He'd usually take the snap from shotgun at Bama and immediately drop back another 5+ yards after that and then just kinda freewheel standing square to the LOS surveying the field. That can't world at the NFL for several reasons. 1) you can't create a picket that deep at the NFL level. NFL edge rushers are too good. 2) Standing square to the LOS like Bryce did now once you see where you want to throw, you have to flip your hips to get in position to deliver the throw. That means both your receiver needs to be wide open and you need ample protection. Not happening in the NFL. 3) On all of his deep throws he needed to be able to step up and through the throw to generate power. That rarely happens in the NFL. It happened recently against Atlanta and he played great but that type if time and room to operate just rarely happens on Sundays. Bryce was IMO always a prototypical great college player who just doesn't translate to the NFL from a talent and stylistic perspective. I don't know how he fooled football people into thinking otherwise.
    • Seems so weird considering his college career, like obviously being a great Pro player is much harder but still how do you go from Heisman winning greatest Alabama QB this era to worst starting QB in the league, I don't get it. I know he had an injury his last year in college but that shouldn't effect his "processing" skills the way something has
