I read somewhere that the refs at practice are supposed to be enforcing this pretty heavily to help teams with the rule transition.

All that being said, in a game it's legal, but if I'm not mistaken, depending on the drill, in practices don't they usually stop the play at a wrap up and generally don't pop the RBs?  Maybe that's what we were pissed about?

Well they are doing kickoff drills and lighting players up.  So the coaches are allowing the tone to be for people to get rocked.   Hard to set up a practice with all that nonsense and then think people will pull out the kids gloves on a RB after all that IMO. 

don’t really like the way the reporting has sounded on of these joint practices. I’d rather they just do the preseason game and thump in an officiated setting where there is no confusion on how hard to play personally.

I dont think players and their agents are getting paid based off of a teams salary cap ranking. They want to get paid based off of their market value. Now, if the NFL were to go to a fixed salary cap approach, then your position would make sense. However, we are years away from that.

Not exactly.  He turned almost parallel to the oline for just a brief second, and then turned again to move downfield.  I guess Kurt is saying he should have been running at more of a 45 degree angle down the field and it would have held the safety for a brief but important moment.  If Kurt is right, just go to show how small the difference is between a successful pass and one that is knocked away.

Yeah, it also concerns me that it escalates the chances for revenge taken out when we actually play the game Friday.  Just doesn't seem to be a good idea at all.  I like that we seem to be the ones bringing the dog to the fight, but it just doesn't seem like a good idea knowing we have to play them Friday.

Yeah, I don’t care how an agent gets paid.  I don’t care how much a player puts in his pocket.  I care about their cap hit on the roster.  That’s all that matters if you are a fan of a team.   And Robbie has had one of the biggest cap hits on a roster for a WR the past 2 seasons.  

Top 15 the past 2 years.  That’s a lot to cap space for a Robbie caliber WR.

      Former league executive and current NFL.com analyst Marc Ross recently named his top second-year breakout candidates for the upcoming campaign. Ross includes Legette, who may be helped out by his team's latest first-round selection. He writes: Legette had a slow start to his NFL career, catching 49 passes for 497 yards and four touchdowns last season. Some of the struggles can be tied to his own growing pains -- he had eight drops on 81 targets, according to Pro Football Focus -- but he had also had to navigate the quarterback shuffle between Bryce Young and Andy Dalton early in Dave Canales' first season leading the Panthers. Canales recently said he believes Carolina has a DK Metcalf-like talent in Legette, who had foot surgery this offseason but was cleared to resume work in early April, and that having a full offseason alongside Young, who took a significant step forward in 2024, could lead to a breakout result in 2025. I anticipate it will also help that Carolina invested another first-round pick in a wide receiver, Arizona's Tetairoa McMillan, to complement Legette in the pass game. McMillan's presence, however, could take some pressure off Legette—who may be able to roam around in a more natural playmaking role.
