I see lots of things being thrown out there, I think some of you have no idea his actual record...

http://www.pro-football-reference.com/coaches/CowhBi0.htm

15 years head coach

2 losing season

10 Playoff births

9 division titles

2 AFC titles

1 Superbowl

Compare to Fox

8 years head coach

3 losing records (possibly 4 this year)

3 playoff births

3 division titles

1 NFC Title

Cowher wasn't the only coach on the Steelers. Dick Lebeau, their offensive coordinator, numerous other coaches. There is alot more to a head coach's success than just himself.

You are saying he can pick good coaches that report to him? Novel idea.

no doubt cowher > fox. isn't even close.

i'm just not crazy about having a retread but were we to get him as a HC i wouldn't cry. well, i might shed some tears of joy but still i'd like us to go with a rookie HC on the rise.

i haven't understood the criticism of taking your team to the playoffs 10 out of 15 years, only having 2 losing records, or just one ring. that is a whole lot more than what we have had. it's a step forward that i would more than welcome.

also, crediting his success on his coaches rather than him? you choose the right people for the job and let them have the freedom to do it. that is what he did, apparently, and that is also a step up from the tendency to micro-manage that we have had with fox.

he surrounded himself with the right coaches and players that helped him achieve as much as he did. why would you think he wouldn't or couldn't do that again?

bunch of ninnies.

And he averages a whopping 1.146448 more wins per season than John Fox.

He made the playoffs 3/9 times in the last 9 years of his career, or 33%. He started off his career in Pittsburgh great, but wasn't as strong since 1997. Obviously a good playoff run that resulted in the Super Bowl in 2005, but still, he is not as dominant of a head coach as everyone wants to believe he is.

    • He had a turnover on all three goals he was on the ice for. Plus he had that god awful delay of game penalty. Like legit his GS actually shows he was the cause of the loss and he was only on the ice for 12 minutes. You remove him from that game and the Canes win or at worst go to OT.  Let's put this in perspective, in 12 minutes he directly led to 3 goals against. In the 48 minutes without him on the ice it was an even-steven 2-2 game and that's disregarding that god awful delay of game penalty that led to goal number 4 of the 5 given up.      I don't see how anyone could say that he didn't directly lead to the loss.
    • reality is the piling on of Frank Reich is just the standard huddle angle we take of putting all blame on someone after the fact.   as I was an OG Frank hater before it was cool to be......now the swing goes too far the other way and people will claim me is as a Frank defender.  Frank Reich was the definition of a .500 middle of the road NFL coach.  He technically was a winning coach and above .500 coming here but he is and was NFL average.  we were the biggest joke in a decade.....because they paired Frank Reich (a dude who was going to do what he does in the NFL) with a dude who couldn't do NFL basics and Frank was forced to play him.  That's not Frank being a loser.  That a bad org around Frank.
    • Toronto is less physical than us, and they took them to 7  I really wish they would have won, because we match up better with them, but we have to deal with what we got  What worries me is Svech trying to take out Bob, that is desperation, that's what you do when you feel like there is no legit options left, it's what I feared, Bob is still in our core groups head, and they are over thinking, over passing Hopefully that changes tonight
