I sincerely hope Hubert proves me wrong. I'm just not seeing any signs of actual coaching, player development, and zero concept of how to manage substitutions and rotations. At this point of Hubert works out long-term it'll be shocking. I'm rooting for him but I don't think it's gonna work out.

Since you guys feel CHD should be fired after two seasons, one that included a NCAA Championship game appearance, allow me to retort. After falling to 6-6 in his 4th season at UNC Dean Smith was hung in effigy. Billy Cunningham said, "I remember the team was just very hurt by this because we realized it wasn't Coach Smith's fault," Cunningham will recall. "It was our fault. It was the players' fault. Its always the players' fault."

This is the same team that participated in a mutiny against Roy and helped his decision to hang it up two years ago. It has been documented that Love, Davis, Black, Bacot have issues with each other, don't play the way they practice, don't talk on defense, take plays off, and aren't great shooters. Hubert took those same kids, minus two future 1st round post players, to the NCAA championship. For reasons you two will never admit or elaborate on, you just plain flat out do not like Davis. He shouldn't be replaced because of what he accomplished with this particular team last March, and fluke or not it happened. It is great that neither of you call the shots because how asinine would it be to fire the coach of the number one recruiting class a year before it got to campus. Your big Choices are out there post had a picture of Jerry Stackhouse! Dude Stack was about to get fired until they beat Kentucky and they still didn't qualify for the NCAAT. With what Hubert did with these players that were headaches, he should be commended and those results should point to positivity and excitement about the future. I am confident Davis will win once he gets his players in for a few years and gets these class of 19-20 kids completely out the door as they have been problems since their freshman year.

Ok now do Matt Dorethy

If you fill out a bracket and it doesn't have Alabama as the Nat'l championship winner than you haven't been watching college basketball this year.

They have been the clear cut best team in basketball. Brandon Miller is easily the best player in the country. I will be shocked if they don't win it all.

Purdue is going to beat them in the Final Four.

Bacot has done a lot but it's time we move on. He's not a NBA level prospect so my bet is he indeed comes back to college.

Why would we want to move on? The guy rebounds his ass off and gets almost all of his points off of put backs. I'd love to see what he could do with a real PG and we have one coming next year. I couldn't possibly care less about his NBA prospects. Hell, we had one legit NBA prospect on our roster the last time we won a national championship. I'll take all the great four year college players I can get and let Duke and Kentucky chase the one and dones for all I care. Give me one every now and then but I'm not selling out for them. I do think that's the way Hubert will go though. I think he has to. If you're going to run a pickup ball scheme you better just roll out more raw talent than your opponent can handle.

Im not hating if we bring him back, I just want to see something new. Bacot is what he is a hustle big.

I don't follow the recruiting class like that who should I watch out for next year?

Sadly, Like you I am pulling to Hubert Davis to work out but admit I am highly concerned about him lasting.

Here's hoping my concerns are caused by being an over anxious fan and will turn out unfounded..

Seems kinda pouty not to play in the nit, no?

No. Not when you consider that Bacot and Washington are injured and weren't going to be available. We basically weren't going to have any bigs available to play outside of Nance.

Two players have already entered the transfer portal. It's best to just turn the page and move on and focus on the future. No on at UNC gives a fug about the NIT. Why pretend to? It's not like Hubert was going to actually play the young guys and get them some valuable game experience. If he would I'd say go and take advantage of that. But he won't, so why bother?

Yeah i think it would have been good to get guys some experience definitely felt like the team kind of quit on the season. Duke seems to have had a similar turnaround to UNC last year hopefully they don't regress big time next year and we do actually have solid coaching

I am sure this was voted on by the team as well.  @LinvilleGorge is right too they aren’t really healthy and honestly it’s for the best just to move on

I was somewhat surprised when I read that the players, themselves  were not really interested in playing in the NIT.

No one comes to Carolina to play in the NIT.

Especially largely the same group that was playing for a national championship less than a year ago. They're ashamed. And they should be.

    • Um, no, just no. Bills, Chiefs, Chargers, Ravens, Bengals, Texans, Eagles, Commanders are 8 teams that it's not even a debate, they aren't trading their QB for Purdy. Patriots, Broncos, Titans, Giants, Bears, Vikings, Falcons are 7 more teams with QBs drafted in the last 2 years that also would rather stick with them than trade for Purdy as they all have more upside than he does. Lions, Packers, Cowboys, Bucs are 4 more that would likely keep their QB's as well, age aside for Goff, Dak, and Baker. Panthers and Colts are two teams in the same situation, QB's who have both struggled and shown flashes to where the teams probably stick with them because they drafted them, but in a re-draft of all QB's, they probably take Purdy over the guy they currently have. Jags, Cardinals, Dolphins, are 3 more with QB's who probably have a higher upside than Purdy but come with their own question marks, so debatable if they'd take Purdy over who they already have. That leaves Jets, Raiders, Steelers, Browns, Saints, Seahawks, and Rams. Rams would take him over Stafford for the future of course, but not for 2025, and I'd think the Seahawks would take him over Darnold, but honestly not sure if they would take him over Milroe at this moment as they really like his potential and have him for 4 years really cheap. That leaves 5 teams that I see who would absolutely take him over their current situation right now, and a handful of others who MIGHT take him over their current guy, a far cry from your 20.
    • Agreed. Also as soon as they received the top pick in the next draft it was over. Bears won that trade. Gave up a top overall pick got one the next year plus pick 9, a couple 2nds, and DJ Moore a proven young WR. Had their 2024 pick from us be in the late teens or later it would be more debatable IMO.
    • Option A:  Pay your starting QB starting QB money. Option B:  Look for a starting QB for 4-10 years (or longer) while wasting the talent at every other position.    How many of the top 20 QB's do you think are worth what they are being paid?   When you factor in the last year of his present deal his contract is really an average of 45 million per year which in today's QB market is a very, very good deal. I wish we'd had found a Brock Purdy to pay 50+ million a year right after we parted ways with Cam.  Ya'll go ahead and live in fairy tale land where good to great (much less elite) QB's are available to pay. Just the fact that they had the chance to pay Brock after the disaster of trading up for Lance is a testament that when you find a quarter back you can win with, complete in the playoffs and superbowls with, you pay him.
