Not me. AR has way too much bust potential out of the top 4. This imaginary upside I keep hearing about is a pipe dream that you do not invest a 1st round pick on.

And Brisset is just, well just not something i want to waste time and money on. But that's just my view I guess.

I'd have to say the only QB prospect with a solid floor is Stroud, but I wouldn't let the safeness of a pick deter.  However, if you're not sold on his arm strength combined with his legs, then that's fine.  I just see a guy that steps in, is totally groomable, and will have a top-5 NFL arm from day 1.  Allen, Mahomes, & Herbert.  He's ahead of pretty much every other starter in that department.  Would have been behind prime-Stafford and prime-Rodgers.  6'4 230, 4.4, 75 yarder moonshots, smart, tackle breaker, ankle breaker, completely moldable.  Is that not what an new QB coach & OC looking to prove themselves want?

He's also way further along as a QB than I expected after seeing so many pan how awful he apparently is as a passer.  The upside isn't imaginary, but if you're not sold, you're not sold.  That's cool.

His ball placement was not what I expected.  He had some especially good stuff in the redzone hitting guys over the DBs and only where the WRs could grab it.

I loved Cam but I think people forget things over time.

Cam was the undisputed best running QB in the league while he played. He was shifty and quick and BIG. But passing was another story. He was always in the bottom 1/3 of the league when it came to passing. He had trouble not throwing with touch.

Cam was a great QB, the best QB this team has ever seen but every year we all hoped that he would get better at throwing the ball and he really didnt.

But he did under Turner, but his shoulder had already been damaged to the point of no return by then.

I didnt forget anything, brother...  hr may not have always been consistent, but the dude came in the league throwing for 400 yards a game lol.  I'd be interested in the metrics you're using that made him a bottom third passer in the league.l, because sure, he might not have been completing 73% of his passes, and his QB rating might've been slightly above average, but the sheer threat of being bale to sling it 80 yards at the flick of a wrist or getting pummeled to death with QB-designed runs made him the greatest weapon we had ever seen, regardless of what common metrics QBs are measured by.  Cam defied that.  And had the league not resorted to injuring him as the only way to stop him, it would've been awesome to see how he evolved as a passer.

I would be on board with rolling the dice on AR. But let's please stop trying to compare him to Newton. If he ends up being the pick it's unfair to put that level of expectation on him out of the gate. He's going to need development and patience.

He started to look really good for the few games that he played with Turner. Its a shame he got hurt again.

Cam really could flick his write and throw it for 80 yards, that was always amazing but he was like a 55-60% passer that really only averaged 200 yards a game.

Regardless of all of that he is still the greatest player that panthers have ever had.

That's why you take shots.

Some people are just tired of the vet QB route. Those guys are already proven and they have no upside. Even the Carr fanboys will admit he is not taking us to a SB.

Why not develop a QB that is unknown. Maybe we strike gold on a franchise QB?

Im not really high on AR, but you have to admit his talent can't be questioned. If he gets good coaching maybe we found something. It's a risk worth taking. Not like we have gambled on a QB in the draft since Cam left.

Honestly, I really feel his comp is Josh Allen.  People keep saying Cam, but Cam was 1 of 1.  There will likely never be another Cam.  I compared Cam in football to MJ in basketball, because we just hadn't seen a player that was a legit force of nature that happened to also play QB in professional football.  He could not be stopped if his passing was on, and he touched the ball every snap, and he also just happened to be the most automatic short yardage back the game has ever seen lol.  That's not happening again...  and I saw that happening from college.

But, I've always said, Allen is like Cam-lite.  Not nearly the threat as a dynamic weapon in the running game, but a damn good one.  That's what set Cam apart - he was elite at both passing and running.  When he was on, he was one of the most electric passers with a rocket arm the game has ever seen, and then he ran like a bruising RB when he was a runner.  I expect AR to become a similar passer to Allen while being a bigger threat as a runner, but again, nowhere near what Cam was...  no one will come close to that again probably in our lifetime as a QB, not in that style.

But that's why I would love this pick.  A Josh Allen-type passer with ridiculous athleticism that can stress a defense every play with his legs as well as his arm?  I have been feeling for awhile that AR is the guy I want us to take.

AR is simply a gamble either he will be a star or he will bust.

It's a gamble worth taking imo. His arm is one of the best in this class.

Yup, snd as Fitt has said, you gotta keep swinging til you hit, and we've missed a lot the last 3 years...  With this staff, I feel like you take the guy with the highest ceiling (AR) and let them work.  I've just got this intuition that if we get him, he is going to become a star.

Cam had 200 ypg passing because he had nobody to throw to besides Olsen.

That's something people never mention when they try to talk about Cam as a passer. Tedd Ginn was his #1 and we already know he had butterfingers.

All the great QB's have #1 WR's. Cam never had that sadly besides his rookie season with Smitty which happened to be his best passing season.

I think too many people pull AR's stats, see he played for Florida (who has been solid in the past) and think he is a terrible passer.  The truth is Florida was a shell of itself especially as the season progressed and the already weak roster battled through some injuries.  When I actually watched AR play it wasn't hard to see he was holding that offense together and had some solid progressions and ball placement when asked to drop back as a passer.  I really don't think he is as raw of a passer as they are making him out to be.  He needs to work on his footwork in the pocket to prevent some balls from sailing over his targets, but that should be very coachable.  It makes you wonder how he would have looked on Alabama or OSU's roster...
