Dane Brugler’s player rankings is a better source that all the mock drafts. He had most of last class’s QBs ranked outside the the first 64 picks.

Have you seen his this year?

All of Young, Stroud, Levis and ARich are in his top 14 overall prospects

Daniel Jeremiah is also a good one and pretty spot on

He has 4 in the top 12 overall I believe and only had Pickett in the top 24 last year.

Yeah that tells me these 4 QBs are much better prospects than anyone last year.

Mike Kaye was on the Locked on Panthers podcast talking about just such an issue.  He was saying that even Richardson could be gone by 5.  I laughed.  Like really hard.  Who in their right mind is going to go all in on Rookies QBs in the top 5?  This class??? hahahahaha!

Then you think about the general trends in the NFL.  If you like a guy, you go get them.  Like with what KC and Buffalo did.  Like what the 49ers did with Lance (which who knows if they got that right!).  Not everyone can fail into the #1 pick.  That requires a fair amount of bad luck to be that putrid.  Sometimes you have to make some big moves to get the guy who will push you over the hump.

I'm not opposed to trading up for the guy the staff thinks they can get the right guy to lead the team for the next 10 years of success.  I also don't think everyone is going to be breaking down the doors for these QBs.  As we've seen, each pick is risky AF, and more often than not, it comes down to staff just as much as the player.

I have no idea what's going to happen.  It's going to be an interesting time as we see how the draft landscape changes and what moves the Panthers and other teams make.

FOMO is why last year's class was pretty bad. Like looking back at the mocks vs where they got drafted a lot of "pundits" shoud've been brought down a few pegs or lost their job/credibility. I see this class as being marginally better but not many world beaters. We will see how it plays out but I still like Corral but I do like Stroud marginally better, and that is only because of his percieved cost vs where we draft.

I mean

a lot of the more creditable one like Jeremiah never had those QBs mocked that high last year.

Are you ready for “I'm actually on the 2025 train.  We can't/won't get Maye or Caleb Williams and the next two have HUGE question marks.  Solidify the roster at other positions this year, get the bridge QB and draft the QB of the future next draft.”

Hard up for a 5'8 midget, a dude out of Kentucky whose stats suck and a RSO that can't hit a broad side of a barn, but MAN does he have an arm!  Stroud's okay, but would have been QB 4 in the 2020 draft.

But muh QB, I need muh QB!!!!

Watch next year everyone will be saying none of those QBs will be worth trading up. Also we will have to trade up because unless the wheel really fall off we are not getting another top 10 pick.

Moving up to the top 10 is not as pricey as moving up to the top 3.

Wait until you hear about trading 3 1sts to move up from 20 into the top 10 next year for the great Bo Nix or Spencer Rattler

The only QB in this draft I would take is with a 1st is Stroud and maybe Young. You see how fragile Tua is and Bryce is smaller, plus the whole height thing.

After Stroud had a good game against Georgia people seem to have forgotten he had one of the highest single read rates in the NCAA from a school that is notorious for QB proofing offenses.

if you are going to go up that high for either of them you are going to sell the farm. This year you have a bunch of teams needing a QB so the price will likely be higher than usual.

    • Good, our ST is almost as bad as our ILB depth!
    • With two starters on expiring contracts (Moton + Corbett) as well as a few back-ups (Christensen, Mays, and Nijman), the Panthers are likely going to have to reinvest in the OL after this coming season. Icky's fifth-year option was picked up by the team this offseason while Lewis and Hunt both remain under contract then (though Lewis' deal is set-up in a way that would let Carolina move on from him then as well). I think that the team is going to be looking at investing a premium pick at RT should Bryce's development continue, and might even look to double dip at the position in order to have a swing tackle that can also kick inside when needed. There's also the question of starting center... Prospects I'm watching this upcoming college season... Centers Jake Slaughter (Florida) Iapani Laloulu (Oregon) Connor Lew (Auburn) Logan Jones (Iowa) Parker Brailsford (Alabama) Connor Tollison (Missouri) Bryce Foster (Kentucky) Pat Coogan Notre Dame) Raheem Anderson (Michigan) Carson Hinzman (Ohio State) RTs Francis Mauigoa (Miami) Kadyn Proctor (Alabama) Spencer Fano (Utah) Gennings Dunker (Iowa) Blake Miller (Clemson) Isaiah World (Oregon) Caleb Tiernan (Northwestern) Monroe Feeling (Georgia) Earnest Greene III (Georgia) Monroe Mills (Louisville) Charles Jagusah (Notre Dame) Tree Babalade (South Carolina) Trey Zuhn III (Texas A&M) Nolan Rucci (Penn State) Tristan Leigh (Clemson) Fernando Carmona (Arkansas) JC Davis (Illinois) Riley Mahlman (Wisconsin) PJ Williams (SMU) Tosh Baker (Notre Dame) Aki Ogunbiyi (Texas A&M) Courtland Ford (Kentucky) Ethan Onianwa (Rice)
    • I watched documentary on the 2010 Auburn season and Cam wasn’t included in that either. I think he just doesn’t care for these things
