Oh noooooo please god no

Yeah I really would not be surprised to see them trade back with Indy and take Levis. I really hope not but could really see that happening. Especially if all this Bryce Young is beloved by Irsay hype is true.

Did anyone catch Ian Rappaports slip of the tongue while discussing the Panthers FA signings on nfl network? He said the Panthers new qb Will Levis.  The other guys said well done Ian! Nice slip of the tongue!

Think I'm going to be sick...

I could be wrong but just looking at some charts, a reasonable offer to trade down with the Colts would be:

Car Obtains:

2023 4th overall Pick, 2023 3rd Round Pick, 2023 4th Round Pick, 2024 1st Round Pick, 2025 2nd Round Pick.

Ind Obtains: 2023 1st Overall Pick

Really might not be too awful actually...

it would be pretty awful to have Will Levis as our quarterback

No thanks, definitely would rather have the best QB off the board

Am I crazy to think that we are trading is an awful trade:

  • DJ Moore
  • '23 1st - #9 overall
  • '23 2nd - #61 overall
  • '24 1st
  • '25 2nd

for

  • '23 1st - #4 overall
  • '23 3rd - #79 overall
  • '23 4th - #106 overall
  • '24 1st
  • '25 2nd

We lose DJ Moore to move up 5 spots in '23 for the right to miss out on the #1 QB and take the #3 or #4 QB instead? The IND 3rd and 4th is worth less combined than our 2nd that went to Chicago. We swap 1st's in '24 and 2nd's in 25 with IND.

We've downgraded in every aspect of this deal.

Maybe I'm overlooking something....my maths could be off this early in the AM.

Well one was to move up 8 spots and the other is to move down 3 spots. So, in reality you paid the difference to move up 5 spots. The closer you get to No. 1 the higher the increments increase with each pick on the value chart.

True.

My point being is that if you wanted Levis, would it not have made more sense to move up to 3 and keep DJ? Moving up to 1 to "control the draft" just to move back seems counter-productive.

I find it hard to believe that Carolina and Indy both have Levis as #1 on their board.

    • I assume you are quoting my still. If so, I don't know what your argument is since mine was simply showing a play where Bryce scored a TD against the Rams in the playoffs where another poster used a similar still of Herbert's line to defend his poor performance last night. Like I said, Herbert is a better QB but Bryce wins the game last night for the Chargers. It simply is something he does better than Herbert and would play to his strengths. Someone even said earlier Chargers only win 1 or 2 games this year if Bryce was their QB which is so absurdly laughable it wasn't even worth trying to address. I mean this thread is literally called "Bryce Young is the worst QB in Panther's History" so I understand there is no objective arguments to be had here but I found that amusing.
    • I think his knee would make a good reason to switch to guard IF he returns.  Half don't.  Half of those don't last too long.  The strain on a knee (320lb man) vs speed rushers is more substantial.  So I would keep him if I could on a small contract (he will make $17.5 in 2026 fully guaranteed) and think of him as a possible guard for the post Lewis/Hunt era.  Knee injuries in big men are not invitations to invest in them.
    • I'd give anything to go back to a 4-3 but we are so removed from having the pieces for that. All because Tepper wanted to force this 3-4 on all our coaches.
