Do the Panthers take advantage of a strong TE class or ignore drafting a TE since they signed Hurst?

Heres a nugget I seen- during the gamecock pro-day, panthers DB&CB coaches did some of the workout drills for players. Cam smith had a grrrreeeeaaat showing there according to everyone who was there, all the teams started to drool. Followed where the rumors that his floor is now carolinas 2nd round pick 39(they got it wrong).

What was supposedly a strength going into last season looked horrible once Donte and Jaycee went down. And Donte is also a liability against certain guys. I could see Ringo dropping as well but not sure if he'd be a great fit

Yea, I was wrong about it being the strongest group. I thought Taylor and Henderson were dawgs, more like frogs....... Its a need&want and I like others are mistakenly overlooking it.

I do believe the Cam Smith stuff as well. Ive heard horn has been helping him too ...

Granted as much as I like Wilks, I've never liked that zone scheme and it really didn't fit with our roster of guys that needed to be more physical to succeed. And the fact he's bringing Hartsfield to SF with him just adds to the argument we made the right coaching decisions. Taylor looked a lot better his rookie year honestly.

Wilks staff would have been no comparison. I bet wilks also told tepper, fitt, and others frank would be his OC........... when asked who if not frank "uhhhhhh, what about year two with mccadoo?!?! no?...ill look into it...." frank had 4-5-6 people legit coaches on speed dial and confirms form most.

Taylor did look lots better as a rookie, thats why I didnt sweat it along with 9th overall pick handerson. Taylor, if not for luck and being drafted by this group, should have been cut around week 12...forget that evans showcase.....Who knows if either can get over the being burnt on the reg. Henderson average one compete bone-headed play each week, but would either get a INT or 3rd PD....taylor was just bad.....

They do get STO back form injury, yea hes a STer, but got good speed(before) and this is a new group of eyes and minds. Hes a hands dirty worker, maybe he could surprise....panthers need some luck...

After listening to the press conference, I don’t see the the brass doing anything other than going BPA. They are trying to shore up the holes in FA as best they can. Almost sounds like they might lean toward DBs if they “reach” at all.

I suspect that if they do go defense in the 2nd it would be for an edge rusher if one has fallen a bit. A LB is in play in the 3rd as well.  I think they truly want to set it up through FA to be able to go bpa at every pick in the draft, including the 1st pick.

I disagree about the 1st pick. You don't give up what they did for anything other than a QB or perhaps a Peppers like DE. And there's no edge/DE like Peppers in this draft.

There are no defensive players that high on their board dude. They have 4 qb's.  Where have you been?

Robinson, the RB and Anderson, the DE, along with Young have been touted as the best players in the draft since last season by the majority of the talking heads and experts. Even after the combine, the top four QBs haven't been seen as the four best players in the draft.

You cannot go by anyone's rankings outside of theirs. They decide how they rank the different groups according to their needs.  Their number 1 need is a rookie qb.  It doesn't matter if a defensive player is ranked by some amateur draft "experts" as number 1.

So now it's needs based instead of true BPA? If so, you're not going BPA. Going BPA is taking the best player regardless of what position he plays. That's why it's called Best Player Available instead of Best Player That Fits Needs.

With the 1st overall pick it's absolutely a qb for us. If you trade for the 1st overall pick it is absolutely for need. That is not debatable for our team. So yes, the 1st pick is a huge need for us. After that FA sets up to go bpa.

Honestly, most teams draft for need. The only time I can recall seeing a team maybe going BPA in round 1 in the NFL draft was when the Packers took Rodgers. The only time I can truly point to BPA being done was the 76ers in the NBA draft the three years they took a center.
