What is odd about trying to upgrade from a shitty QB?

The Patriots making odd decisions is what they do. They fall in love with a certain QB like Mac Jones for instance. A few years ago in the draft they hoped he would fall into their lap and he did and they were ecstatic when they had gotten him. Now it is looking like one of their QB's may be getting either traded or released. I guess their faith in Mac Jones may be declining for all we know. Zappe played better than he did last season I believe.

There were reports of Mac being shopped earlier this offseason. He sucks, they thought for some reason he could be the next Brady, but now they realize he is garbage like the rest of the league.

This an odd move for the Patriots. Somebody from their list of QB's on their roster may possibly be gone soon.

It's really not odd. Jones sucks and he committed the cardinal sin of making some disparaging comments about the Patriots' staff and reportedly actually reached out to his college coaches at Bama to try to help the Pats' offensive staff. You can't step on Belichick's ego like that. It was reported a few weeks ago that the Pats we're evidently shopping him and not finding much of a market but no mention of their asking price either.

That organization is most likely aren't going to be going to any SB's anymore with the ownership and HC going at it between each other. BB and Kraft aren't exactly seeing eye to eye like they used to. According to some story about it(if real) BB didn't want Bill Obrien back and Kraft went over BB's head and gave Bill Obrien his job back and with HC pay along with it. BB used to have good hindsight in a draft picking certain prospects that would fit but that has not been going well so far it seems.

    • When I see those figures my stomach gets queasy at the thought of Bryce getting a similar deal. I think it would be a wise for the FO to speak to him and his agent before the deadline for 5th year option.  If Bryce expects a similar deal prior to his 4th year...or even after his 4th year...Morgan needs to try to work out a trade deal and move him.
    • I do hope Sonny Styles is available with our pick. Reese will go top-3, but Styles is a beast in his own right. His size next to Wallace would be a heckuva balance and he plays fast. My guess is Styles destroys the combine and goes top-8. Gotta hope the "taking an off-ball LB early" conversation causes a bit of a drop. It did with Campbell in last draft, so here's hoping Styles can last until the late teens/early 20s.
    • Teams can win in spite of bad offense.  In spite of bad defense.  In spite of bad ST.  In spite of being weak at corner.  In spite of weak WRs.  In spite of weak QB play.  like I said, what is taking place is the unique cherry pick where some fans say we can't state the obvious reality about the QB spot.  But look at Atlanta!  But look at these 3 throws in this game he was treated as a backup for every single other snap!  Exceptions don't make the rule or change the big picture. I have seen lots of your post, I don't recall you rushing to Philly Brown's defense when it was just matter of fact stated Cam Newton won NFL MVP/went to the Super Bowl despite a weak WR cast.  The entire board universally agreed the weak link to that roster was what it was.     I would reckon if I searched hard enough, I could find you making the same matter of statement that teams do in fact win in spite of very clear weaknesses.
